TOvlogs I have the problem of losing intrest.. the first 2 - 3 hrs of gameplay is very nitpicking, everything has to be perfect. At the 3 - 6 hr mark... I just make grids, plant parks, schools, PD, FD etc and lose intrest and build another one. my 200,000+ city had the worst traffic problems because of this..
@ambassadorofpain19 жыл бұрын
KabulTheAngryFinn - The Stupidity of Gaming I've got a 70K city now and I think the issue you're describing is down to pre-planning. Once you've build the city up it's an absolute bitch to manage transport afterwards if your roads are all screwed up. At least in my city anyway. But then, I guess that is similar to real life, hence why most cities have terrible road systems.

I find that Commerce needs "goods" from either outside your city or your industrial areas and commerce loves traffic. Likewise, residence get sick with pollution and industry tends to pollute more than commerce. As a result, I find that commerce should act as a buffer between industry and residence. This funnels people to commerce which will help grow all three sectors. Think of it like this: East I put residence, in the central area i put commerce, and the west I put industry.

Yes, he's always been a sweetheart. :) I'm new to Steam too so it's definitely a learning curve all around, LOL. I do have a question that has nothing to do with actual gameplay but rather regarding saved games. It seems I can only save a maximum of two different cities at a time. One in the Steam Cloud and the other just as a regular save. Is there a way to save more than two cities at a time? Sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm still getting used to this, LOL. I'm checking out your other videos now and have subscribed to your channel. BTW, we're also in Ontario, just north of the GTA. :D

PROTIP: There's a mod called "precision engineering", which is great, when building roads you get length in "units", which i believe one square unit is one of those little property squares, and you see the angle relative to other roads when making roads. Is this a program or a game? What is it called and where do you get it from?
@ImperialJedi9 жыл бұрын
Mick Carson this is a new game out from Colossal Order called Cities: Skylines. It's a next generation city builder with essentially unlimited freedom to build anything and anywhere. Warning you though, if this is up your alley, literally all your free time will be consumed by this game.
@mickcarson85049 жыл бұрын
TOvlogs Thanks for responding right away. I wonder if they sell this in games stores.
@ImperialJedi9 жыл бұрын
Mick Carson you'll need a to download it through Steam I believe - free program, it's a digital store or games, you make an account and can log in anywhere and basically 'bring' the games with you. It's quite convenient. If they do sell it in stores, it would just be a key that you would need to enter into Steam.
@mickcarson85049 жыл бұрын
TOvlogs Thanks mate. I already have an account with Steam. Problem is I am not happy with Steam. 1) They are asking too much information and details that are none of their business and has nothing to do with games, such as: 'What city were you born in...' what has that got to do with creating an account? A user name and email is enough. 2) Downloading takes ages, even if a game was purchased in store it still takes 40 or so minutes for it to update/load before you play after you've typed the activation code. So, there you are, you know why I am not happy with Steam. I just want to purchase and play games without the need to give anyone my personal details. What if I don't have the Internet? What if I wanted to play a game in private and without the need to create accounts, like the old days? Have the privacy rights been breached?
@ImperialJedi9 жыл бұрын
Mick Carson also some fair points, I would honestly try emailing the game company. They might maybe have a physical copy of the game that you could purchase.

In the beginning talking about lining up the one way streets on the exit ramps, I know this is an old video, but I found recently you can switch the direction of one way roads by using 'upgrade' and right click, so you can draw both roads from the interstate exit and just reverse the one you need that leads back to the on ramp
@awd32649 жыл бұрын
Simpler yet, use a roundabout.
@DarkMatterHorizon9 жыл бұрын
+awd3264 Also, avoid using the 4 lane roads, they add traffic lights to the intersections, better to stick to the 2 and 6 lane roads, they just have stop signs which don't interfere as much with your traffic flow.

When I got this game in a bundle, I thought it was an intimidating game to play and learn. Your videos showed me that it is not difficult to make a beautiful city. thank you!

I loved this video! I used the tips and made a similar starting point with the roads and industrial area and traffic was sooo smooth! Once I got the starting point set-up I went off and did my own thing but kept these idea's/tips in mind when building newer- adjoining road layouts and traffic was still very smooth even as my city grew.

In the beginning, when you extend the highway with one/way roads: You can do this quite easily by extending both highways with one way roads going down (like you did the first one). However, the right road will run in the wrong directions. If you switch to the "replace road" option, you can toggle which way the one road is supposed to go by right clicking on a piece of road :)

My starting tips: Just read up "Fused Grid" on wikipedia. Excluding highways, I never use one-way streets and have no traffic problems at all. Amazing how well real world city planning works in this game. Also, learn how to build intersections. Ramp length and the way they connect can make a huge difference in traffic flow.

About to buy this game, as I really miss my SimCity's. After 3 days of watching different vids for info on a few details (like payback on deleting roads ) I finally have a answer. You got a sub and about to start the binge watching.

You shouldn't need to turn them they automatically turn to the "wind" though there are only speeds no actual currents (Only flaw with this game)

Usually I use a very grid-like road layout, then have later traffic issues at the highway off-ramp. I've been solving that with a nice roundabout. The 45 degree is a nice solution.

*..............THANK YOU !!!* usually I have no problems with creativity, but there is so much you wanna do, and each decision is not really, but yes really, permanent and I once stood stuck for three hours trying to decide how to begin the game... your design helps, thanks =)

More Tips: Budget panel -- defaults city infrastructure at 100%, use top Left Info panels to monitor and the Money symbol on bottom to immediately scale down all costs to rock bottom(50%), monitor and scale as needed. itll speed up your profits and lower costs to maintain a town that doesn't require that much in the begining till you get enough capital to expand out /redesign your town for what you want. I prefer to build a ugly start town myself that'll build up closer to the river, less power lines less wasted money no real appeal, then once the Cims start to stagnate ill redesign the system to be appealing/functional. Your video though has made it possible to both by design and budget - teach something that works well, Good Job.
