The "why now?" is definitely an important question, and I'm glad you addressed it, even if the answer isn't any more significant than that. Those of us who don't have access to CS2 (I assume the Mac version is still a ways off) appreciate that CS1 is still being supported - and frankly, it seems like CS2 is different enough from CS1 that it's not out of the question that a non-zero number of people will keep playing CS1 even when CS2 is available across a full range of platforms. I'm not worried about mod support, as it seems like most of the popular mods (basically, the ones I've picked from your recommendation) are still being kept current - if not by the creator, then by someone else picking up the torch.👍
@alexsmith6322Ай бұрын
By CS2 being “different enough” what you really mean is “worse” or “lacking in features” compared to the first game Think about the coping that is happening in this comment They aren’t trying to be different games 2 is an evolution/modernization of 1, or it’s supposed to be. But they want you to pay $250 bucks while you get all the same changes/updates you already paid for the first time, and get that over the next 8 years. All while the skeleton of the game still doesn’t truly work properly They are still supporting skyline 1 because so few people are on 2 that they see that the future revenue available on expansions within that game won’t cut it for them- anyone else who presents any other reason, is coping and capping

Nobody releases a sequel in hopes that it’ll continue to exist alongside the original. No, it makes perfect sense. I pointed out in the comments on your video yesterday that currently CS1 has a consistently higher player count than CS2 on Steam. Releasing new content for CS1 keeps people interested in CS1 which gives CS2 a greater chance of success once it exits early access. I also find it outrageous and disgusting of Paradox to release paid-for content for CS1 whilst refusing to release the content for CS2 many of us have already paid for, and if anyone disagrees, then you're part of the problem and deserve to be taken for a ride.
@TFAmbienceАй бұрын
I think if you pre ordered for CS2, or paid for CS2 after launch despite the performance issues, you're part of the problem and deserve to be taken for a ride. If you had any spine and respect for your time and money, you wouldnt have supported a broken product and believed a corporation to fix it instead of taking the money and running like they have. The only reason it even launched broken is because they know people like you will still preorder and buy it without refunding, and they banked on that early cash to use the excuse that they are using that funding to fix the game. They knew that people like you would believe them when they say "were sorry and we'll do better" when this was literally the plan, or it would have been delayed even longer. Be better, for your own sake, and for the health of the industry as a whole
@gufu218 күн бұрын
@@TFAmbience I gotta say I agree. All over the industry in general, if you preorder, you're part of the problem. Preordering-paying for a product with no idea of its quality-is what allows publishers to deliberately release broken games while getting consumers to pay them for the privilege of being beta testers. With CS2 in particular, Paradox absolutely knew the game was fundamentally unfinished and broken. They could have chosen to delay and fix it, but they deliberately chose not to. That behavior should not be rewarded.
