Just a heads up, service buildings can actually reach all over the map without limitation. That is to say, a service building doesn't actually serve nearby areas; the green "reach" stands for its impact in land value IIRC. Even if a building next to a fire dept is burning, the game may dispatch firefighters from another station far away to put the fire down.

As a regular consumer of CS content, but ...I don't own it so I've never actually played it ... I appreciate your ability to make this game seem MUCH more accessible! 5:30 the only time it decreases the money you spend is if you use road maintenance depots from the Snowfall DLC, which primarily clean snow.

I just love how you did that dog park. I'm decent with a fair number of parks, but for some reason I always stumble with the dog park and it looks gash. Now I shall steal your idea and the hounds of my city will no longer look upon me with canine contempt. I think theoretically the idea behind the water towers being noisy is pumps. I don't think it's real world consistent. There are smaller water towers on top of buildings in large cities. I think they should have split the dynamic up with water towers and pumping stations.

This probably sounds like the biggest noob question ever, but what key/button rotates objects like flower beds? And what key/button changes traffic lights to stop signs? I can't figure it out 🤨 Thanks!!

So to rotate props....there's really no way to do it without mods. To add traffic lights, there's a menu to do it when you do road names I believe. But I'll have to explain it in a video at some point cos it's kinda hard to find.

Hey Diana, got a question, but first, thanks for this series! Played this game a while ago and starting to get back into it with CS2 on the horizon haha. Not sure if this is actually a bug or not. Initially I thought it was a bug at first where the pipes and electricity didn't show their effect radius, but when you showed the land value view, it was showing that it was all grey. Is this maybe an issue with one of the mods? I was seeing the lack of water/electricity radius so I went full vanilla and it showed them again, along with land value, pollution radius, etc. Interestingly, when I slowly enable the mods back one after another, it doesn't seem to come back, so not sure what the cause is.

Honestly not sure, I only had visual mods enabled in this city, but I haven't noticed the issue in more recent saves.

Yeah they're for daytime and night time, really only relevant if you play with day/night cycle on.

I've been playing for months but I for the life of me can't figure out how you zone so much commercial zone without having not enough educated workers problems. Even if I only zone a tiny bit of commercial as I go, I still have that problem. Even if my citizens are 50% educated. So frustrating.

It's definitely one of those issues every player deals with, library coverage helps educate citizens more, but higher land value higher level zones will require more educated workers than lower level zones.

Don't listen to her, you don't zone as much as you can but rather by small blocks and with time gaps. Then you won't have a big death wave problem in the future 😉

Honestly - this is good advice. I was skeptical at the "don't listen to her" but yes! Although at first because we do wanna expand enough to generate some revenue it's ok to zone a lot once you get that initial bit of tax revenue, you're absolutely correct! Death waves are the WORST. 💀

@@CitiesByDiana also if population grows faster than city funds you won't have enough to put required building in every milestone. As you can see you already used 2 loans :) And people will demand those services the moment they're unlocked.
