Legendary divers watch. It was the first quartz watch with electronic depth gauge on the market, came around 1985. I have one and will definitely keep it. Great review :)

I have two as well 😀. An original c022 with 6 screws on the back and the JP2008-08E the same as his new second one. 😀

I have the Ti Aqualand Duplex - best dive watch for sure!! Need a battery change though. Need to send it to Citizen/Dallas to get another battery and have them re-seal. 😂

I just did the same thing! My old version was more than 20 years old and was showing signs of heavy wear. I really dig my new old stock Aqualand. It’s so cool to have a perfect version again. Such a groovy watch.

I notice that my Aqualand is dead today. It is correctly set analog dials on 05:00, 0 seconds!!! Is it sign that is battery ended? Or something else?

I purchased mine in 1998 had it for 12 years and sold it...cost me $500 at sears..it never ever let me down...loved it..

I have 4 of them one being a Japanese release with the anti mag screwback case, I also have 2 of the first generation with 6 screws on the case back the c022 silver and c023 gold great video, and change the battery on the one you had the motorcycle accident with.

Got my first in 1990 when on St Martin, wore in almost daily until 2015 when finally it gave up. Within a month I came across a nice used one which still resides on my wrist. Great watch!

Thank you so much for your enlightening, beautifully shot comparison. I've been eying this watch for a while simply for its unique, almost retro-futuristic, "brutalist" tool watch aesthetics. If it proves wearable on an average wrist I will definitely get one. With Eco-Drive it would be a no-brainer.

14mm is quite thick. I also wish it has Eco-Drive. Otherwise this watch is perfect.

I love this watch. I have one c020 from 1985 with 6 screws on the back cover. Needs to replace the 3 batteries, which I will in the beginning of the 2022. It never failed me so far. Regards from Portugal.

I have the co22 silver and the co23 gold , replace those batteries as soon as you can to avoid leaks that could severely damage your watch.

They seem still available and produced. Also with different color dials. Do you change the battery yourself? did you get the one damaged in the bike accident fixed by Citizen? I wish they updated these with eco-drive, keep the same design. Maybe a smaller depth sensor on the side abd 22mm lug width instead of 24mm. I like the older more rounded angles better.

i had the very first version of this watch back in the early 1990's. these were the very 1st successful no nonsense dive watch and the only one that incorporated a fully functional depth meter. i bought it and it stayed with me for two seasons during my time in mykonos teaching scuba. at the time i had the entire island wanting to buy it of me as it was in those days, a very unique watch....a little later seiko brought an ugly rectangular thing that was meant to match and counter the aqualand....it came nowhere near it. this watch is still a great dive watch that will last for years provided you dont flood it....i have 3 now, including the beautiful gold and black model. a cult watch amongst the pro divers and very much loved amongst the people who know it and worked with it. btw....the original and early back to this watch and access to the batteries and o ring, was a metal plate held down by 6 screws. buy one, you will never regret it.

And despite being supposed to send back to citizen to be pressure tested after the three battery replacement it can be done in any jewellers if you want to risk it

I,ve done that on numerous occasions.......Because the piece is that good, if you lost it or damaged it beyond repair, you have a backup.....Don,t ask me what Models they were......The list is endless lol

I had mine battery changed in the middle of the pandemic 2020 and it showed the "2 second hand jump" by the end of 2022, actually is still working until now. I just recently changed the battery because it kinda annoys me not seeing the seconds hand move normally and kinda wanted the features back for my work lol but it says in the manual that it usually runs 2 years for every battery change

I have the six screw that I bought in the Marine Corp PX Okinawa in 1988.It was amazing to have a depth alarm I could hear at the bottom of a reef worn on my wrist. My bezel is worn and the dial is faded, will anyone in the United States restore the watch?

rubber. The new ones (full lume, green, copper) have a silicone strap. More confortable.
