Not many people know about the hidden hourly chime sound that can be set for this watch. In timekeeping mode, push the (S) upper left and (R) upper right both at same time. The buzzer continues to sound. The hourly chime is all set. If you want to disable it, press both buttons again and the buzzer sounds for a short fixed previous time.

Ditto, first one broke now I own the next gen. the window is about useless for diving, way to small and hard to see. Battery replacement is exorbitantly expensive, as I don't dive anymore I change my own batteries and have no problem with swimming etc. It's the only watch I feel comfortable with and an aftermarket Shark band really improves the fit on my wrist.

Thanks for a great summation of the two watches. I wasn't aware that Citizen were still producing updated versions of this model. I have a CO20 that I purchased in 1986, and I recently found it languishing in a draw. 3 new batteries and a new band and it is running as new and keeping great time. Initially the analogue would not start, but within half an hour the second hand was underway. These watches were very maintenance intensive, requiring new batteries every 2 or so years. The bands, as someone else has pointed out, would rot and have to be replaced regularly too. My case is in simlar condition to the example you have, so I think it is testement to the ruggedness of the watch. My lume however has not survived, probably 36 Australian summers has taken a toll. The orange minute hand has also faded. Anyway, I can enjoy wearing this watch again, I'll now have to find the yellow scuba tank and box to complete the package.

Hey Ian many thanks for your comment and hope all is good down under!! Cheers also for sharing that back story of your watch, a truly worn watch!! Superb to hear it's still got life!! Recently Citizen released a blue version, full lume and i think a green dial version of these and so am trying to save up to get one in for review asap - welcome to the channel dude :)

😄 I fell down that rabbit hole a few days ago when I made an offer of less than ZAR 5000 on a stainless steel and gold version of the Citizen Aqualand C022. Seller stated it had been in his safe for over twenty years and I was worried battery leakage would have destroyed the module. Luckily not, as I installed new batteries this afternoon and working perfectly. This watch has been a grail ever since a teenager and happy I finally found one at a very reasonable price. Apart from light scratches on case back, it is 98% NOS.

@@thetimebombardier😄 Please do not be jealous, my friend, and thank you for the warm welcome. Can you perhaps tell me the differences between the CO22, C023, etc? To me, they all look the same. Also, do you perhaps know where I can find a manual for the C022? The one PDF manual that I did find only mentions it is setting instructions for the C020, C021, C023, C026, C027 and C029. Strange that it does not mention the C022. 🤔

G’day Chaps, Thanks for the tip, I wasn’t aware of that new model, I’ll chase one up. I found a very good watch repairer here in Perth WA who had about 10 of the old model all BER, it seems the big issue is battery leakage rendering the watch un repairable. A great pity 😢

Great watches, I had the old model with gold crone, bezel ring and buttons. Bought it in Bangkok year 1992 for 5000.- THB.- I had more than 1000 dives with that watch and never failed on depth meter or time. Unfortunately was it stolen by a Thai girl I picked up in a bar, when I woke up next morning she was gone and so was my watch and wallet. Shit happens guys, I'm still looking for a 2.nd hand here in Thailand but difficult to find.
