OK - I mean this in the best way possible... 1. You can't remember how to use the other functions as they're too complex for you - so that's a downside of the watch? 2. You couldn't be bothered to buy a $5 watch link tool and scratched the bracelet - another fault of the watch? 3. Nearly ALL divers watches tell you not to press any buttons while under water - yet another fault of the watch? 4. You scratched the crystal (it's mineral not sapphire). I own about 15 Citizen Eco-Drives (including a Navihawk AT) and over the years I have never scratched a crystal. 5. That music has just go to go...

Awww. Not the music too

I love my Nighthawk and Navihawk they are my two favorites, so don't get me wrong here. But the crystals are not all that rugged at all. I wish citizen sold these at a little higher price point and included a sapphire crystal instead of the mineral.

exactly what I was thinking too - couldn't have said it better myself. None of the things are design flaws, specific user issues

This list pretty much nails the video. None are reasons not to buy this watch.

How did that Dremel polish go Rob...? (shuttering at the thought). Man you are cheap dude. Go spend the $70.00 it takes to have a pro do it, You're just going to end up doing that anyway after you screw it up.

I have the same watch with silver mesh band. Beautiful. My only criticisms are the hard to read digital displays and the seconds hand running independently of the chrono. I recommend that you invest in basic, inexpensive watch tools. I received a kit for Christmas and they make link removal and band replacement a breeze. Thanks for the vid!

Let's say this, God gave us a brain to use, even for memorize 'manuals' this to #1, when you wear a pilots watch, you should be able to use ALL functions offered! Otherwise buy something easy to handle! #2 means that you only have to fix the band when you buy the watch. Or after eating fat fast food for a few month. Otherwise the band should fit for several years. And when it comes to this, your biggest issue will be to find the pieces you removed when you did a 5k in 27 minutes. To #3, it is not a Rambo model. You wouldn't dive with your smartphone even when it shows 'waterproof' I suppose. Even being Swiss, I have to say that I love to wear my Navihawk every rainy, sunny and whatever comes day! And I like the calculations the bezel offers! Citizen did good!

Excellent points that most would consider when buying a watch like this. To me this owner is after a compliment on appearance than actually use ANY of it's functions (ok, he might look at the time now and then and that is a feature). This watch after set up practically holds your hand and takes care of itself. A favor asked of Rob. Please never ever consider taking up flying, I'm saving your life here.

I have this watch and I banged it against rails and wall by accident while walking and I had direct bezel and crystal contact and I have no damages on my navihawk it is a well built rugged watch and I plan on getting another one

DEBO SEEK same ive had a skyhawk for years never taken it off no dramas,and i work in concrete everyday. its time to update just because i can, and im going a skyhawk in titanium ( i can afford fancier watches) but these are just so tough and great easy to use and the best bang for your buck you can get in my opinion
@chrisnzella7 жыл бұрын
DEBO SEEK mine is fine. I believe it has a mineral glass crystal, not Safire
@tomflanagan67276 жыл бұрын
SAME!!! Rob is in the Luxury watch demographic but won't spend the money for one. Besides, this is not a suit and tie watch. It's too big and unneeded. Buy a dress watch for the office then wear this one for what it was designed for. Basically any other activity.

a) Tools for the job; not a bracelet link fault, its easy with the correct tools b) Pushers/crowns on any watch should not be used when wet c) Its a mineral crystal and is very strong, but scratches fairly easily I have a 2nd gen Skyhawk and its super easy to use. The crystal can be restored with cerium oxide, I've restored to a gloss finish even a badly scratched one. Worth a go or replace with Sapphire. Nice looking watch.
@robgleason58487 жыл бұрын
+mandh14 - Never heard of cerium oxide but it SOUNDS exceedingly caustic. Would it work on any scratched crystal? I have an old Bulova that I might try it on before my navihawk. How would you use it?
@mandh147 жыл бұрын
It comes as a powder - just mix with water (there are some premixed pastes around, but the powder is readily available on ebay). Apply in a circular motion. Be advised it takes many, many hours to remove scratches on mineral glass by hand, but it does work. Don't breathe in the dust while mixing! Works on any type of glass but not not sapphire.

Rob Gleason is the Chrono measurement done digitally? or does the time second hand show Chrono seconds as well?
@robgleason58487 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, it is only digital. Would be nice to see some sweeping hands while the chrono is running.

I liked this until the many many hours of hand rubbing was mentioned. I almost bought some. If I had the time and desire to rub a watch for all of those hours by hand I might do it but I doubt it.. For a lousy 70 bucks a watch shop will polish them out with perfect results. Some charge even less. Unless I lived in Alaska or similar where you have no choice. I may buy some anyway just because. Thanks for the tip..

I have the navihawk it came with a rubber band that you cut to fit and thats my only con, the pros are everywhere! It is not complicated to work for me, its look is just awesome. And the eco drive with the atomic time was the topper for me. I love this watch!!!!

There are many versions of the Navihawk and yours is a lower model. Seems like it also a older model.

This guy is comparing with the TAG indirectly. Hey Rob, The citizen does more than the TAG in functionality wise. Tag are too much priced for what the watch is actually. However, Tag watches movement are designed by Seiko Corp which I found out recently browsing in the internet as I wanted to know about Tag quality. Now I have decided to go for Citizen 9031-52L model.

who told you it was a sapphire crystal he's a mineral crystal you can get a sapphire crystal put on it for $75 I have the same watchand have no problems with it previous navihawk owner so familiar with the menus I'm surprised you didn't touch off on some of the main things man the little bit uncomfortable back light is dim and numbers extremely small
@maxm72027 жыл бұрын
Where did you get the mineral crystal swapped? Local jeweler?
@tomflanagan67276 жыл бұрын
My complaint is only that I wish the back light would stay on a couple seconds longer. It's a drain but not very much. No more juice used than is pressing it twice which at times I end up doing. This may sound funny but if you are over 45 years old and now need readers this may not be the watch for you. It crams a ton of stuff into a little watch face. Makes it all quite small.
@tomflanagan67276 жыл бұрын
Yep... Most any jeweler or better yet, look for a local watch shop and pull it's cust. comments from Yelp. Google it.

Pretty well known that the Skyhawks and Navihawks are mineral. I think your credibility is seriously hurt buy not getting this simple spec prior to posting a video that specifies this specific feature as the biggest problem. Crystal material is something I look at prior to purchase. It's a big deal. I do admit it still makes no sense to me that Citizen doesn't use sapphire on it's most heavily featured models. Granted that may raise the price a little but it would be cheaper than it was for me to immediately replace it with sapphire at a shop after purchase. As for the user difficulty and band issue. Band issue. Should a guy that wouldn't remember or know his Crystal's material be trying to be Mr. handyman with a watch at all? Very cheap easy fix at any jeweler. This also is a set and go watch.. What's confusing about this? You could hear he was distracted just making this video. Maybe this isn't the watch for your type. I most definitely feel that you are not the demographic for this watch but you are for the Tag. Perhaps that is ultimately the message here. I know this takes effort but if you actually did have a situation that required many steps to resolve, a smart phone and KZbin app would be faster and easier to use anywhere. I KNOW you use a smartphone. Blows my mind the laziness now. It's easier to post a question online than it is to use Google? I actually had to use libraries most of my life! How did I get through it?
