I was once asked by a work collegue if I was "Going home for Christmas". I laughed.They seemed to think I was from a different country for some weird reason. I had to tell them , "No I am English". They said, "So youre classed as British then with a British passport." I laughed again! "What passport? I've NEVER had one because the furthest I've EVER travelled out of England has been Scotland & Wales." They asked why I have never been abroad to experience other cultures. My reply was, "What's the point when I can do that just by getting on public transport and going to a different part of London. Besides I burn too easily in the sun anyway." Thanks for the kind replies. I should add though, I'm Greek , Russian and God only knows what else. Race doesn't mean much to me , much more important to me is one's character and how one treats others.. I don't see nationalism as a race thing. I'm positive there are English of East Indian descent whose families have been there over a hundred years that would agree with that song. PC society would say different and it's political correctness that is truly killing The West, that and modern liberalism. That said I'm not much of a republican either. Fantastic song, I'm Scottish but there's nothing wrong with being English and proud of it. I love to see the flag of St George when I'm in England, but if an Englishman waves this flag he's branded racist. People can go around with Irish flags / Pakistani emblems etc and that's OK (and so it should be for England is probably the most tolerant country in the world) but carry a St George's cross or wear an England top and you're looked down on. Patriotism is not racism.
