You are the only channel thats covering this watch. Honestly Citizen Atomic has been my go too, yeah they dont have the brand recognition but for what you pay and what you get for the purpose of keeping accurate time globally you cannot go wrong.

I agree. My first ever Citizen watch was a TV shaped automatic with a purple dial my father gave me. He bought this watch for himself in the 1960s.

Well shoot me I just bought a 900 euro Seiko. Feel stupid now 😂. I really like where Citizen is going at the moment and their eco drive watches are just a delight to wear m, so care free. The brand is underrated.
@BBingo-v5i Жыл бұрын
100%. I would even go so far and say Citizen is the new value king. They do magnificent dials these last years and have modern case designs. The eco drives and the ultra precision quartz movements are awesome, and they also have the 9000 series automatic movement from their own manufacturer Miyota, which are pretty decent. I feel like Seiko has lost touch with its customer base a bit. The constant price hikes, use of hardlex crystal and cheap movements even at $750 watches, dozens of new limited editions every year, questionable bracelet quality, boring case designs and sometimes weak customer service has lowered my view of Seiko over the last years. What was their last really awesome and fresh looking model? A completely new series? The Seiko 5 sporty reissue from 2019? It's all kind of same-same to me.

I have to say, when I first heard about this watch I was really impressed with how good the grey moon face one looked. However, the one question you failed to answer was whether or not the radio signal reaches Australia? The reason I ask is that, about 7 years ago I had an "Atomic" watch which worked everywhere else except Australia? And this being a watch that totally relies on receiving a signal to correct time, is not what you need, if you cannot receive one? So nice looking as the watch is, and function wise it is incredible, I feel that this important fact has been left out of their specifics. I would also have liked them to add an alarm into this watch as being a traveller it would have been useful, and would it have killed them to add a sunrise & sunset display instead of AM / PM hand? The details make all the difference. Also I wasn't too impressed with where that date window is, it distracts the look of the face, and draws you to it. Otherwise, great review.

I believe it will not get the radio signal in Australia.
@MAllen-ec9by11 ай бұрын
I thought as much as when I saw where the signals were coming from, so yet again false advertising on citizen's part when they said southern hemisphere? But it is a nice watch though.@@saulperla2006

Personally I think it's fine if you don't get the radio signal. It's _still_ a perpetual calendar watch, and you'll only have to adjust it occasionally (depending on how close to the correct time you need to be). Most quartz watches gain time, so you can correct for time gained by simply hacking the movement and waiting briefly before pushing the crown back in.

The blue dial would be my pick, although all the variants look great. The bracelet appears to be a typical Citizen/Seiko dog, no micro adjusts and those strangely polished links which cheapen even the most beautiful Grand Seiko.

will it work in India? The atomic function.

I'll have to think about that red one. Already having a Casio Oceanus OCW-S5000AP-2AJF, it's hard to justify another solar radio atomic titanium watch. But maaaaybe. The Oceanus isn't a moonphase after all.

Thank you for the reply, but most Atomic watches do have a manual setting feature, but to be honest, the whole point of the watch is the accuracy and the fact that you don't have to worry about setting it. For example, I have a Bulova moon watch (quartz) this is probably one of the most accurate watches you can have without receiving a signal, it loses maybe 5 to 10 seconds a year, (providing you set the watch to the correct time?) however it's a big watch to wear. Smart watches like the Garmin Instinct and iwatch are also very accurate, they use signals from the built-in gps which keeps them always updated, which is a better option, and one Citizen should have considered. Don't get me wrong, I like the look of the watch, but as a method of telling time, I'll pass till something better comes along.

Absolutely love this model. Great quick review btw. I fell in love with the red dial immediately... then was taken aback. Why Citizen?! Why ruin that beautiful red dial by surrounding it with a cheap looking black bezel. Give the same love to the red as was done on the other 2 variants, please.

@thomasmathes5019 Жыл бұрын
The price is not out of line for what's offered but it's easy to get 20-30% off Citizen watches. The smaller case would be welcome though, at least 40mm or smaller. Lug-to-lug doesn't look that big though, so maybe it wears smaller than the 43mm case size implies.

I have a few Citizen atomic clock sync'd watches, they're the perfect "never set it and forget it" watch, these will be the same. This design looks similar to the rather pricey Hakuto-R model but for a lot less and this design is cleaner. The entire design would be even more upscale looking if they'd just drop a lot of text on the dial, get rid of the 24 hr. dial and go to a smaller case. It's also a shame Citizen US isn't getting the green dialed version of this watch, I'm seeing it for sale already from EU retailers .

This is a really cool watch. However, I think it would be better if they used Bluetooth with a smartphone app to synch time keeping instead of the atomic radio. They could program the app to easily change the time zone when traveling and maybe have charge information.
