Citreon C4 Picasso. I'm trying to fix the Trailer Lights Socket. Part Two.

This is part Two. I'm not a expert but someone who on Min Wage, so I need to work most stuff out for myself. After several weeks of thinking and checking, without hope, a few You Tube Videos, I've finally got the problem solved.

Watched your video with interest as I have the same model car but 2014 I also was getting no power to my electric trailer plug so watching your video thought I would have a go and hey presto problem solved my tow bar was fitted by a tow bar specialist and they had put a 10am fuse just before the module and it had blown replaced the fuse and everything is now working and finally I don’t think Steven speilberg will see you as a threat as as a film maker but we’ll done it helped me 😂

Hi Alan. Glan it helped. Unlike Steven, who just has to direct others to do their jobs, I have to do everything myself. It mightve been a bit better if I knew what I was doing, (dont know much about cars) but as a DIYer I think its important to show the thinking process of solving a problem yourself, that you dont understand. Last year alone Ive fitted both front and back brake pads and discs to my car and it passed its MOT, Took out a back boiler in a coal fire, removed a radiator and the pipes leading to it under the floor, fixed the ball cock on the header tank for my central heating. Im not taugh in anything like that, its just thinking it out, most importantly is to work out waht can go wrong and hopefully save lots of money by not paying others, who may not do the job right anyway. Im in the procces of install a electic ring circuit in what will be my new kitchen at the min. Keep well and thanks for your comment.

Hi. I never did the original wiring. It was done before I took ownership of my car and that's why when I had the fault, I bought the same model of bypass box that had already been wired into the car. All I had to do was plug the new box onto the old wire harness then I just wired in the 12 volt trailer socket. Since then I've installed a Pure sine wave Inverter thats powered from a lithium battery and removed all the car seats and installed a bed for car camping and its no longer easy to get back into the wiring loom without stripping out the car. When you get the bypass box then it has the wiring instructions with it. The one problem I've had since making this video is now my bypass box is always live, so if I'm not using the trailer socket for a while then I just remove the fuse. When the garage wired the first one up then they took the power fron a 12 volt aux socket and then if the car was turned off then the bypass box also would turn off. The problem with that is if the car ever broke down on a cold wet winter night and I had the caravan on tow, then although the hazard lights and side lights would be on in the car, the caravan tail light would not light up, which I thought was dangerous.
