In this video I continue on the rebuild on the rear axle on the Mehari.

You can remove paint from abs plastic with oven cleaner. The oven cleaner must contain sodium hydroxide. You can also use dot 3 or 4 brake fluid. I used these products on an abs plastic grille for a 1st gen Honda Civic to remove paint and it works. It's slow but it saves you from sanding or damaging the plastic.

Iv'e been following a bloke on youtube for a few years and amongst other things he does he is restoring a Land Rover and he has had his chassis galvanised as well , he is a very interesting person to watch Seppo , he is Maximus Iron thumper I think you would enjoy watchimg his stuff.

In relation to the paint removal Seppo, the abs plastic is the same used in plastic model remote control cars. I’ve used nitromors paint stripper to remove paint on a Tamiya Baja bug beetle without issue. I’d try a bit on the inside of the bodywork as an experiment rather than doing it on the outside visible bodywork. Best of luck with it.

Being only 5 digits usually, the Odometer on an A-type can easily go round a few times, depending on how often it's rebuilt (or engine-swapped!), that and from fiddling with a couple of speedos I have, they're easy to reset to zeros of so desired (not desired really!!!!)... :)

Something I heard about years ago for removing paint from plastic was to soak it in brake fluid. Apparently it won't affect the plastic. I have never tried it, so I don't know if this is actually true.

I think your Mehari can still be a pretty low miles car, I have a 2CV with 130000 kilometers and it had bad bearings at 90000 km already. 😊

Interesting! I guess you wont notice it unless you take them apart?

@@SeasideGarage the front ones gets bad from braking, that's why they're getting bad at the front part of the bearings. They're gone if the front suspension goes back up after a stop kinda jerky, you won't feel it just by rocking the front up and down when parked. 😊
