@@StupidBlokeStupidVideos on that note, do you think I can wire 6 speakers and a sub to the factory head unit? Or will it just fry everything?
@StupidBlokeStupidVideos2 жыл бұрын
@@Gourmondise it’s not bad for a budget setup but I’m debating putting a better one in and amping everything like I have in my younger days lol. I used to have a V70 T5 with 4 12” subs and 6 speakers including a pair of boxed vibe squares 6x9 on the rear shelf, but I had a powerful head unit and the 6x9 were amped. I think on the bugs, the factory head unit is just as much of a weakness as the oem speakers tbh. When adding more speakers you can wire them series or parallel. Parallel is louder but lower resistance, so more likely to overload the amp. The aftermarket speakers are already lower resistance than the oem ones but unlikely to cause issues alone. If anything it’s likely to blow a fuse or trip out before it blows anything up, but to be on the safe side and for better sound you’d be better with a little amp tbh. Sorry for long winded response, just read it back and I don’t half waffle some shit sometimes 🤷♀️

Thanks to your great videos now I have 3 pair of speakers in my Pug. Two 4" on the dash, two 5.25" in the front doors and two 6.5" on the parcel shelf. (And the underseat sub) And everything works just fine, and if something I can get away with lower volumes due to the closer proximity of the door speakers! Here is a theoretical question - If I was bored and want to fit another pair of 5.25" in the rear doors will that work in your opinion? And as always your videos and knowledgeable answers are highly appreciated!
@StupidBlokeStupidVideos2 жыл бұрын
Cheers mate. You could make it work, but there’s a couple of things to take into consideration. Firstly how you’re gonna power them. Sometime you can just wire extra speakers in the same outputs as the others, but it alters the resistance. If you wire 2 speakers of the same resistance in series, you add them together so it doubles it. The same 2 in parallel it halves it. Best idea is to a mom them but it’s a bit more dicking about. Also, when adding more and more speakers you’ve got more chance of wiring them out of phase, which can actually reduce the bass so that’s something to keep in mind.
@Gourmondise2 жыл бұрын
@@StupidBlokeStupidVideos thanks for the reply. I did tested the system for phase and everything checks out. I also meticulously followed the same wires and tapped into the right ones so all good. I may just buy another pair of 5.25"s and see how it goes. Worst case scenario I buy a cheap 50 quid 4 channel amp and re-wire the whole thing.
