i have one right now as my first car, brilliant little car the "uncomfortable ride" only really presents itself in potholes and speed bumps, the rest of the time its a perfectly smooth ride. the suspension is stiffer than my mum's peugeot 207 (my main point of comparison to a "normal" car) but i find it more confidence enducing than uncomfortable. its stable at speed and you dont feel at all nervous about it on country roads or motorways. the 1.0 engine does lack a bit of oomph down low, but once you rev it to 4k the torque comes in and itll get itself going. shifting at around 6k seems to build up the momentum best, and weighing less than 800kg means you can conserve that momentum through turns very well with the aforementioned stiff suspension. motorway driving seems a bit daunting at first but its really no problem, the backdraft from lorries will throw you a bit if youre not ready but as long as youre paying attention its no problem. just be conscious of the wind and drafts and youll be able to hold it down at and past 70mph. the only note is the power steering switches itself off when you dont turn the wheel for a second, so lane changing you may find its initially hesitant to turn. thats just the power steering taking a second to tell youre putting load into the steering column and kicking into gear; again once you know its there its not a problem. its aged very well, and is a brilliant bare bones car; perfect to have as a first car like i do. i pay ~£90 a month for insurance with black box and all the low mileage gubbins, but considering the area i live in its about as good as youre going to get. shifting at 2k and keeping it around the 1500 mark for city driving will have it sipping petrol, and working as a delivery driver ill go through £40 petrol a week tops working 5 days. only problems ive had with it are the clutch not fully disengaging at times, which rectifies itself if you mess with it a little bit and drive the car regularly and a check engine light in the past couple weeks for whats presumably either the intake pressure sensor or exhaust o2 sensor. the ECU's "Safe map" feels no different to normal and it plods along perfectly happily

I own a 2009 C1 VTR with 35000 miles on the clock. I feel it is one of the best cars for towns and if you feel like going further it will do it just fine. I love the fact I get 60+ MPG £20 a year road tax and I have just renewed my car insurance. £166 fully comp I do have 10 years NCB but even with a few NCB its still very good. My wife owns the Toyota Aygo Fire 2013 we drove that car from Worcester UK to Pompeii Italy. Just over 1400 miles one way and it did it just fine. It was also the perfect car for the small streets in Italy. The only problem I can see with the car is the boot is very small. But its a very small car so what do you expect. My solution was the get some roof bars and a top box for the Camping trips we go on. You lose MPG with the extra drag but it keeps the two dogs happy on the back seat (dogs wear seat belts too before someone says its unsafe for dogs the be on the back seats) Pros: Cheap the buy Cheap the run To date both cars have been reliable Cheap parts ie: tyres are super cheap :) Fun to drive Park nearly anywhere Cons: Small boot (get a top box) Noise at speed Gets pushed around by crosswinds but fine once you get used to it Only comes with two speakers in the dash. poor sound so I upgraded them (easy mod) For me its one of the best cars I have ever owned. Well done Citroen, Toyota and Peugeot

I've got the C1 Vibe: the cheapest and most basic model. No central locking, and manual roller windows. There's also the C1 Rhythm as featured in this video with central locking, a rev counter and electric windows installed. Thirdly, there is also a C1 Code edition, available with the 1.4 HDi engine, added to the Rhythm specification by including 14" alloy wheels, half-leather trimmed seats, chrome interior trim inserts and glove box cover fitted. Exclusively for the UK market, there was two further special editions. The Cool edition, based on the Vibe, but with air conditioning and blue seat fabrics/dashboard inserts, available in Lipizan White or Damas Blue. And the Airplay, based on the Rhythm, adding full iPod connectivity, iPod cradle, a 4 GB iPod Nano and coloured dashboard inserts and door pulls. Early models were available with bright, swirling decals.

I’ve had a 2012 C1 for about 5 years now. No issues with it at all. Very cheap to run, can take you anywhere. Been to north of Scotland, round the lakes and down south with it. The downside is that I personally don’t think it’s an attractive car

If you want a cheap city car this one is great. My parents own one and its a funny little car. The interior its not that bad, the seats are comfortable and theres plenty of space too move around. The only drawbacks is that it as a small boot, and the ride can be a little harsh in bumpy roads.

Normally I don't put any commendations to any reviews but this review made me pissed of bcs of its unfairness. I have this car: C1 2009 1.0 Automatic. Second owner from 40K to 80K Km in 5th years. And I am not so polite to my car when I drive. I have had Opel Vectra(96), Opel Astra (2000), Volvo s40(2000), Renault Megane(2005), Citroen C3(2006), Citroen C3 Plurial(2006), Nissan Qashqai (2011), Renault Fluence(2012), Hyundai I20(2015) and drove my friends' car in time. This car is a star. I am not telling that it is the most powerful or most comfortable or most economic one that I have had. I am saying that if you compare the cars fairly enough, this car deserves much much more respect than it shown here.. It looks small but when you get in, you get surprised. One of my family is 1.90 cm and 140 kg, he fits comfortably in front and back seats. Not touching anywhere. I am also driving i20 1.4 automatic nowadays, (which is double priced and newer) C1 is a money saver for me. It consumes very low. (remember, it is automatic) I only needed to change the clutch set which is a needed thing for all cars in time. And only one bulb got turned off and it was almost free to change. Like 2 dollars maybe? If you know what you do, you need to be suicidal to make this car out off the road. It turns well and stops well at high speeds. Very perfectly balanced in the centre. This car is like a bicycle. You can drive it as easy as it. No problem at parking or rushing somewhere in the city. Guess what? I also rushed it into the wild sometimes in fear of breaking something. The rocks were spreading all around but nothing happened. Still works without a grumble. It is a 12 years old car. I DO trust it. Never failed. Never. Please, show some respect for the good job which you are in lack of it.

Yup I love my lil Mika as I call it, though it needs some repainting and scratches off as got second hand and new battery. It does me for the comfort, space for parking and my anxiety of not hitting anyone or anything, I love the clear glass boot and shape of the car it gives it a extra humff to it and my colour; for price as you say mine is > 40k mileage and going strong; given its make of Citroen that does front wheels something to do with its mechanical power Something along those lines think it’s known as FWD (front wheel drive); good on hills I’ll say; Now despite not understanding a whole expert knowledge of cars, I have some sensible knowledge and from my mechanic grandfather of over 60yrs he was a mechanic for; the price of tax which is free in my case and where I am; taking everything into consideration I love my small car. This review shocks me.

Not a good review. All three are excellent, they're nippy, economical, cheap to insure, even free road tax on certain model years, HUGELY reliable, and fun to drive. Small boot is plenty big enough for shopping. If it had a bigger boot, more leg room, and head room, it's wouldn't be a small car anymore, there are bigger cars available for that.

This is a horrendous review. The boot is more than adequate as you can see from the picture of the suitcase in there, despite the woman clearly contradicting the pictures. The ride isn't uncomfortable what-so-ever, "Oh my god, you have to adjust the mirrors manually, the one time you ever do it" And I laughed at the picture of the guy sat in the back behind a 6 foot 10 driver who needs the seat on the very furthest notch back.

This is yet another review from someone we can't see, (or know the credentials of, other than a voice-over artist used here), who have unrealistic expectations of this great little car. It's cheaply priced for gawd sake! "Manual mirror adjustments" Oh dear me! End of the world stuff. I've owned petrol and diesel BMW 5-Series (530d and 540i) and 3-Series (328Ci) cars, plus Jaguar XJ8 and Mercedes E-Class (300e), and during the austerity times, I purchased my Citroen C1 Rhythm diesel; running it for ages and covering over 70,000 miles, - from S. France to Edinburgh. The seating position/steering/pedals and quiet interior, (only noisy on the outside), has as much comfort on the motorway as the other cars where it counts. It is also the most reliable car of the above mentioned cars owned. With much torque, you can pull away in 2nd gear and surprise a few impatient Ford drivers too. Also, there's no wind noise, and on the motorway at 3,000rpm at 90mph on the continent running on super diesel with tyres inflated to the correct pressures, this car is a long-legged comfortable cruiser and not noisy inside at all. Quite a little marvel that thinks it's bigger than it actually is. Would sooner drive this than some nasty looking Fiesta that shouts 'bad boy-racer attitude' like many other cars designed for the younger market by adolescent stylists under 40.

Pros: Cheap to buy, run, repair, insure, tax, etc. It's nice to have a car that you can easily tweak, tune, and work under the bonnet, parts are easy to come by and most jobs only need basic tools. Cons: poor quality seals around tail lights and top-centre brake light results it water ingress into the boot area after some years. (Check the area under the spare tyre frequently) At least it can be sorted with some silicone sealant. (Check vids here on KZbin)

I watched the C1 advert on TV some months ago, with the girl in the dragon costume in the right hand front seat, the guy in the bearskin in the left hand seat, but at the end of the ad, when they cornered, the bearskin was right, dragon left. Bought dirt cheap as a rub around. Nothing wrong with boot. What is this lady trying to fit in there and is she not able to pull a strap and drop the rear seats? At 6ft, no issues with rear head room, all the guys at work pile in in the way to lunch. Maybe she thought she was getting an suv and hubby pitched up with a C1. Its a tiny car, if it had a bigger boot, it would be a bigger car.. Duh. Theres no black magic for that

Jolly little cars, peppy enough , anyone who complains about boot space in a car this size that can sit four adults are welcome to make suggestions about how one might alter physics, and win a Nobel prize as a bonus....moronic. The size dictates everything, suspension travel, wheel size, soundproofing....it's disingenuous to start criticising these things on a car the size of a discarded Nike, at least without making suggestions as to how the space it occupies might be better used, maybe put the engine and the rear seats on the roof?.

i have this car in manual 2012 only complaints : a little bit underpowered. like. it can reach 155 kmh. but it would take an eternety. so when ur on the highway trying to pass someone at 120 it will be a little hard. if theres a way to tune the engine a little or something to have more power it would be amazing. first gear has a shit ton of power sometimes i do burnouts when trying to launch (thats a good thing. i guess lmao. time to change tires) second thing. wind isolation. non existence i feel like im riding my motorcycle with the cheap helmet i want to add some isolation someday but my exaust do a nice sound. and i listen to music anyway so i dont hear the wind and if u love good sound quality. change the speakers. they are bullcrap the only thing broke down on me is the A\C but its french so im not surprised good things: it may be a "city car" but i drive it across the country without problems. most reliable car i have had. fuel consumption is like a motorcycle. back seats are kinda nice. windows in the back are like a prison. but its good for aero dynamics lmao it seats like a sport car on the road. its low. and hard suspension so u can do turns kinda fast without worrying about dying lmao anyway if you dont have a big family id say buy the car.
