THE CITROEN DS
The Citroen DS (also known as "the goddess") was one of the most advanced cars in the world over forty years ago. The "DS20 Special" model seen in the short film was built in 1973.
Equipped with the famous hydropneumatic suspension, it creates not only the "feeling of flying" but also the possibility of adjusting the car's ground clearance. When starting, the classic car rises several centimeters in the air, then when parking, the car slowly lowers again. With varying loads, the car automatically keeps the ground clearance constant.
In addition to the steering wheel gearshift (4-speed transmission), the cornering light on this car is also worth mentioning, which was way ahead of its time. Today, the DS is commonly regarded as simply "beautiful".

THE REGION
The footage for the film was shot in Hohenlohe near Heilbronn (Germany). The Breitenauer Lake, the Löwensteiner mountains and the Brettach valley are among the places that can be seen.

Wonderful video! I own a 1964 DS in Catalonia, but i need to replace the engine and the whole hydraulic system, as well as restoring some other parts of the car, i have the idea of travelling to france, buying a later LHM model and changing the front part, dashboard and interiors from the '64 as i like that one far more, i guess that's a bit crazy but when i see my old white '64... God, she's gorgeous!

Ein wunderschönes Auto wo man noch das gefühl hate ein Maschine zu bewegen und nicht einen sprechenden und piependen Computer,die einzigen Geräusche waren die des Motors und dessen Anhängsel.Schade nur dass der so schnelle vom Rost zerfressen wurde,was man leider viel zu wenig hier hört.

Ein paar Fragen zum Auto: Der Beschriftung auf dem Kofferraumdeckel - D Special - nach ist es im Kern eine ID. Stimmt die Beschriftung denn? Gab es 1973 noch dieses "schöne" Lenkrad oder ist das nachträglich anstelle des umschäumten Lenkrads eingebaut worden? Gab es die seitliche Chromleisten ab Werk für die IDen oder wurde das Auto nachträglich palladisiert?

+lithiumdeuterid Danke für Deine Fragen und Interesse am Fahrzeug. Da es sich um ein Kundenfahrzeug handelt, kann ich leider keine verbindlichen Aussagen über diese DS treffen. Dennoch ein paar kurze Informationen und Erklärungsversuche. Ab 1969 wurden die D-Special-Modelle als Nachfolger zur ID19 gebaut, ab 1972 erhielten sie dann den Motor der D Super (1.972.-Kubikzentimeter, 98PS), welcher auch in diesem Modell zu finden ist. Die Beschriftung „D-Special“ auf dem Kofferraumdeckel scheint zu stimmen. Lenkräder aus umschäumten Kunststoffmaterial wurden bereits ab 1971 verbaut. Bei diesem Modell wurde vermutlich ein altes Lenkrad nachträglich eingebaut bzw. ersetzt. Die Chromleisten gehörten nur bei den Pallas-Varianten zur Serienaustattung. Hier wurde vermutliche eine höhere Ausstattungsvariante gewählt oder die Zierleisten nachträglich angebracht. Weitere Infos zur DS sowie anderen Oldtimern gibt’s auch hier: www.oldtimer-video.de
