I think the petrol/gasoline engine in those by that time was a 1.9 litre pushrod/overhead valve engine that goes back to the Traction Avant from the late '30s...

Most of them I see these days are static selling displays or food vans that don't move so good to see one still moving.

Love the simple tech of the old Citroen. Those H vans are/were rare but they are getting very popular again. We see them often in Europe again. Just like this owner,new owners use them as their business coffee van

I was a student in the mid sixties, and my summer job was delivery driver in the Paris area with a Citroën H, It wasn't so cool as steering and brakes were very heavy !

Wheeler Dealers did one of those and replaced the engine with a ford engine. It turned out nice

When i first seen it,It reminded me of the trucks used in WW1,It has the same body style! Also it looked like it was run a year or two with just water as coolent! I like it!!

Makes me think of Inspector Clouseau, is it noisy inside or does the barn roof body make it quiet

I have a Citroen C15 van, not quite as goofy looking as this but just as quirky. Good fun to drive, very retro, but rusty as anchor.

I've never seen one of these on the road, but like you, I'm attracted to weird car designs. They almost speak to me.

In the UK they make conversions to modernise the mechanics. More reliable more power etc. They use Transit engines. The good news is those engines are also available in the US too. Search the web or YT to find out more.

The left hand side rubber sleeve on the steering arm seems to have torn, but then you probably noticed that as well with the van on the ramp

If it is close to 2 litres, then most probably 1911 cc, because the engine of the first Limousine with Front Drive , Traction Avant 11 CV had these between 1934 and 1957 and the H Van was produced between 1947 and 1979 so a bit more than 30 years and used the traction head of the Limousine. The Engine was also used as DS 19 and ID 19 between 1955 and 1967.
@78Dipar4 жыл бұрын
Right, the H engine is the 1911cc 4 cylinders engine coming from the 'Traction" with its 3 speeds gearbox.

You seem to b running into a lot a vehicles brought back by people who served in the American Military in Europe. The French Military used the Citroen as well as the lookalike Renault van.
@jurivlk54334 жыл бұрын
The also weird looking (I a different way) Renault Estaffette was even more practical with its sliding front doors. Drivers used to move them with the doors all open. So French!

Leonard Carr , yeah...to fast to handle😝 The old Indenor engines ( used in Peugeot and Opels), indestructible....but....damn slow. ( In a later stadium, they raised the engine till 2,3 L and even a turbo was atted....- Peugeot 505 and Opel Rekord.).

Strange how the exhaust runs forward, goes under the radiator, and out the middle of the van. Makes no sense considering all that unused real estate behind the transaxle.
