The slow City Stories Documentary is a documentary series that tells the stories of the cities in Turkey that have received the CittaSlow title.
Köyceğiz is the fifth installment of Turkey's most comprehensive CittaSlow documentary series.
Köyceğiz is an incredible city, you will understand what we mean when you watch the documentary and listen to the stories of Köyceğiz.
First of all, we would like to thank the CittaSlow Turkey team for their support for this documentary.
We would like to thank the Köyceğiz Municipality for hosting us so well. Also, many thanks to all the people of Koycegiz who contributed to this documentary, those whose names are written below and those who are not.
While filming the documentary "Chill City Stories", we want to learn about the history and culture of that city. Of course, we are curious about its nature and flavors, but most of all we want to know and record why this city is a livable place and why this city has received the title of calm city, cittaslow.
We will tell you the stories of a calm city. Stories of calm cities. We will tell you about Köyceğiz. One of the magnificent cities of Muğla with its lake, sea, nature, sweetgum forests, which has received the title of a calm city and deserved this title to the fullest.
This is a coastal town with no locks on its doors, a city with a magnificent lake and most importantly a magnificent history. A city with the traces of Carians, Scythians, Ionians, Persians, Romans, Seljuks and Ottomans.
While recording its nature, lake and history, we met such beautiful people that we were mesmerized by their Aegean naivety and Anatolian hospitality. We understood much better why this is a calm city, why it has the title of CittaSlow.
Everyone living in this city knows how to enjoy it. The same happiness is on the faces of the athletes who come from all corners of the world to do water sports. We are not exaggerating, those who live here eat well and breathe well.
When you go to Köyceğiz, eat the honey, visit the lake, breathe in the scent of the sweetgum trees, but most of all chat with the people. Ask them how they stay happy, ask them to tell you legends and enjoy a quiet city.
As we filmed the documentary Sakin Şehir Öyküleri (Stories of a Quiet City) and recorded the quiet cities in Turkey, we got to know the country much better. We discover how life has become better quality and what needs to be done for people to live happier lives.
This spirit makes the city livable. You will see that spirit when you go to Köyceğiz. Of course, you cannot achieve this if you only sunbathe on the beach and do not mingle with its people. You cannot live that city if you do not learn its history and legends.
It really has a magnificent honey, it has a cure-all frankincense oil, it has very delicious fish, it has people who do sports in all seasons of the year. I am glad that we started to shoot this documentary series and I am glad that we tried to get to know Köyceğiz better thanks to this documentary.
