I was hoping the helicopter would take off before the building it was on collapsed. I kind of figured the cylindrical parking structure would be the second to go. This reminds me of the Northridge Quake, the barking dogs, car alarms, then later the choppers overhead checking for freeway and other damage.

Near the coast or lower land, we often observed that underground water came up to surface and destroy the houses, roads. On 1st of January it was observed at the residential area of Niigata City, which is a bit far from the heart of Noto Earthquake, and also tsunami, land slides causes lot of damage as well.

III - Buildings move. IV - Pretty much the same. V - We start to see damage. VI - Pretty much the same. VII - We now see a building collapse. VIII - Not much additional info to report. IX - Parking garage partially collapsed, the building in the center is damaged. X - All building are either damaged or destroyed. XI - More buildings have collapsed. XII - Almost everything is destroyed.

In reality, buildings do not move like jelly, but have a more stable structure. The video also does not take into account weather conditions (wind speed, temperature) which can also affect the scale of the destruction. But overall the video is interesting, thank you.!)

Another great video! It would be cool if you did one showing the actual movement on a fault when a quake happens and how fast a fault can move especially in strong quakes when it can move 10 feet or more. Would be interesting to see how it propagates along a fault while the shaking is happening and how the shaking is produced.

What is the depth of these earthquakes? The intensity 6 lower seems too moderate for a M7.2, so it should be quite deep.

Only 1 or 2 buildings survived. The cloned building on the left survived the earthquake, (the one in white). There's another clone like those 2 in another video (which didn't do well).

in fact, during the Ridgecrest quake, the MMI intensity in LA was IV. One of the buildings in downtown LA say a displacement at the top floor of 30 cm.

I believe he is using real world data to simulate the shaking. We don’t have much data for anything above an 8.2 because they just don’t happen that often.
