Im not even a country fan but I absolutely loved Toby Keith. He and Reba made country music bareable for me! My dad was a huge country fan. It was a daily fight. Rip Toby! We miss you. There will never be another you.

It's called a concept. Obviously nowadays they wouldn't even have horses but they're comparing it to what being a sheriff was in the past

They weren't "celebrating after killing people"! 😳 They were good guys (old western possee/undercover cops) celebrating catching/punishing the bad guys! 😉 Willie was Toby's father, a retired cop, helping them solve a tough case. The 🥃 "whiskey for my men, beer for my horses" 🍺 is just based off an old saying; we have a LOT of those that are kind of weird. LOL I love the song, personally. Not because I think it's a great piece of music, but because it's fun and upbeat ...and hey, the good guys win! 👍

He was also a great patriot. Listen to his “Courtesy of the red white and blue” or “American Soldier”. Funny songs “How do like me now” or I love this Bar.

My wife and I were in Charleston SC and was about to take a carriage tour around town and they were giving Yingling beer to the horses to keep them hydrated. They said it was better for them than water while working all day... Who knew?

I do enjoy how real your channels reactions are, most channels you don’t get honest thoughts about the music and people just act like they love everything they hear

ALL Toby's videos are great. You cheat yourself if you miss the videos. This is just supposed to be entertaining & we enjoy watching with you. He has a ton of hilarious songs/videos like 'As good as I once was', 'How do you like me now?' 'Trailerhood', 'Who's your daddy?', 'I wanna talk about me' & on & on for funny ones. For the best patriotic song I've ever heard, check out his serious side & catch his official video for 'Courtesy of the red, white & blue, the angry American', which he wrote after 9/11. It is amazing.

I saw him 4 times in the early 2000’s. He evolved from pop country ballads & meaningful songs to Pop Anthem Country which I outgrew. This is not his best. “Crying for Me” shows off his voice pretty well as does some of his earlier stuff. His videos are fun but you don’t need to watch. A song should be able to be appreciated without a visual aid. Good reaction. RIP Toby Keith. 💜💜💜

How Do You Like Me Now is fantastic. Success is the best revenge. This is about a girl he's crushing on and she thinks she's way too good for him. Twenty years later he has a message for her. It's such a fun song. You definitely need to watch the video with it. His expressions are priceless. I Should Have Been A Cowboy, is fantastic too. I believe they said he had 32 number one songs.

Yeah, I agree. I don't think there's intention beyond writing a fun entertaining song behind this.
@elliekahl53058 ай бұрын
I really feel like this is one of those songs that proves a lot of people don't listen to song lyrics. I remember when this song was popular in the early 00s and being like um, why are they singing about killing dudes and then getting drunk and celebrating? But everyone around me only seem to hear the "we'll raise up our glasses against evil forces, saying whiskey for my men, beer for my horses" part of the song and nothing else. Most hear people an upbeat tempo and a catchy hook and that's it.
@OldManWhiteyReacts-ij1yd8 ай бұрын
Yeah I agree. Rounding up good old boys and going off to literally kill people is not so light hearted a theme.... but it's a light hearted song and obviously meant to be light. I feel like, due to raised awareness of "roundng up good ol' boys" and what it really meant in the past might mean this song hasn't aged quite so well. But it's meant to be a fun song so... I don't think anything dark was the intention.

Toby Keith is one of those artists whose songs and videos are quite different. His videos are always great and entertaining. Sometimes the song itself is different. As an example. I heard this song on the radio and on CD long before I saw the video. The lyrics of the song make me think of an old western and a posse going after an outlaw gang. The video as you saw is quite different. I'd suggest that Toby Keith might be one where you'd want to listen to a live and then watch the video as a second part of the reaction or a later reaction. Personally I like this song for its up beat music, but it is not a unique song. He has several songs that would be worth a reaction. My personal favorite by him is "Bullets in The Gun". His "Courtesy of the Red White and Blue" is a very patriotic song that he often performed for the troops. "Who's That Man?" is a very introspective song. For his funny songs, the video really adds to the song. "How Do You Like Me Now" or "As Good As I Once Was" are great examples.

A music video was made for this song that was a totally different story than the movie that was eventually made. The video you're seeing features Corin Nemec and Willie Nelson(who in the music video plays Toby's dad).
@candleburner20068 ай бұрын
I don't remember what movie it's from but there's a line in it that says whiskey for my men beer for my horse and guess Toby heard it and decided it needed a song. There's only been a handful of his songs that he didn't write or co-write. I do know that when they were making the video, they asked Toby & Willie about using tea to drink and they both said no that they would be using the genuine article! So when you see them all throwing back shots they're just having a good time and enjoying a good drink. I've been a fan of his almost from the time he hit the stage. He's one of the rare ones that's the real deal and will be truly missed
