I love it all. Doing full vocals like that arent easy. Love or not

This song easily makes it standing alone as an instrumental if that's the way this group wanted it to be. I myself don't particularly care about lyrics/vocals (whatever you call it) and look at metal as instrumental all the time. Hell , I'm 28, I'm not a pissed off teen or anything I don't need a particular type of lyrical stimulus to get me interested. I just realize that the amount of talent it takes to make this kind of music and hit the vocals properly is far greater and complex than the bullshit people listen to on the radio waves constantly. Good rifts, drums sound great, and the vocals only compliment. Sumerian Records has a lot to be proud of, their ear for talent is impeccable.

Just the instrumental sounds great, heard it before the actual song and love it. But the lyrics often are considered separate from the music, but the vocals are still a major piece (just like any of the instrumental parts) of what they are trying to express. And there are a lot of bands where I don't care for the vocalist but it should be given the time to see what the/their purpose in writing whatever song is.(Not meant to be negative, just a thought) (:

Yeah me too actually, I saw the playthrough vid and just randomly clicked on it, then went to the actual song. I always loved instrumentals. One of my favorites of the past is The Crusade, by Trivium. I'll say this much, off the top of my head I can't think of another song that stands equally strong with or without vocals. I've been listening to the same bands for years now but after I came across Born of Osiris, belatedly I might add, I've been turned onto the record label. In going through the process of exploring new groups, at some juncture before I check the lyrics, but it's never been a make or break thing for me. No negative vibes here, I agree with you completely.

Got to see these guys live here in London, Ontario. And i must say... Live is 100% better. Their Vocalist doesn't even sound the same recorded. Its unreal how different they sound compared to their live performance.

I was thinking the same thing. But there's an Edgar Allan Poe song about death (because what else would a Poe poem be about?) called "The City in the Sea," and this is probably where their name came from. I would totally listen to City in the Sea while playing Bioshock, though.

kinda bummed, i found this band because the guitar playthrough was suggested in my feed, and THAT WAS AWESOME. but when i came over to find the full song including the singer, i just wasnt that impressed anymore...the instruments are really good and that guitar tone is amazing, but the vocals get old real fast.

DFVChrome I like your style, friend, and I do indeed agree that the vocals aren't quite satisfactory myself. This vocalist's voice is obviously better suited for clean vocals.
@jamesoliverreppin40719 жыл бұрын
Unkawaii Games actually the screamer doesnt sing the clean vocals, its the rhythm guitarist that sings those clean vocals
@DippingThem11 жыл бұрын
In this same genre? In all seriousness, i probably cant. Most bands in this genre are even more feminine. This is probably the least feminine post hardcore band of 2013, but its still what is ruining the "core" music. Whether its your cup of tea or not, its true that its bands like this that make deathcore and metalcore look bad.
