Jack White's musicianship,passion for the music and collaboration with similarly talented artists is a delight for the soul especially in these troubling international times

I think Jack White is just amazing. The output of music he does, the producing he does, having been in 3 successful bands. This song is just beautiful. Makes you feel things internally that are rare in music........

Joker also the weird sad face he does sometimes, kinda like an upside down smile, when trying to reach high notes

It's kind of what I liked about the first, like, 7 Cure records. Robert Smith always wrote a little out of his own range so those higher notes had so much more feel and effort applied to them. Much more interesting to me than someone like Celine Dion singing some perfect BS.

Jack white is my guitar idol. White stripes are my favorite band. That said I LOVE WHEN JACK WHITE MESSES UP ON GUITAR!!! its cuz I also play guitar and write. I love it it makes the performance more real and alive. No one wants perfection if so go listen to the record at home

An awesome song and an awesome performance by each of the musicians. I hear this and am reminded of the folk-rock of the mid to late 60s that incorporated sitar and had a light Indian raga flavor (at least to my untrained western ears). The fiddle and mandolin really compliment the guitar well. Probably the best choices of instruments to use for this song.

Before anyone comments on his voice, and how this and recorded version sound different, the recording is from 2005 when he could still sing his high ends, but then he messed up those up and would often get Bronchitis due to the effects of smoking, so you dont have to feel bad because you thought his high ends naturally worse, he did it himself, so be mad at him
@StellaAppleRox8 жыл бұрын
I like his voice, roughness and all. I take his voice for what it is. He's never had a clean and beautiful voice to begin with, that was part of his appeal. I just didn't like this rendition due to the fiddle being so loud and drowning him out at some points to the point it became a distraction.
@petegjerness90798 жыл бұрын
Um, moo, please don't spread misinformation. This recording is not from 2005. It is from October 15, 2016. Last Saturday night. It was a first rate show at A Prairie Home Companion.

Hahaha you can tell they're usually a rock band. They're not super used to *playing together*... Just slamming about and a insane racket. Jack should play quieter with his musicians more often so they can learn to blend... It sounds like theyre all trying to be heard over each other.

Nah, I'm a raving atheist. You think a bible thumper'd have Newman as their image? I'm just sarcastically reveling in the fact that Garry K's sanctimonious drivel (see a nice summary on the Pharyngula blog titled "Go back to Lake Wobegone, Garrison Keillor") is dying out.
@rudyangulo8 жыл бұрын
Your comment sounded like something that was meant as satire/ sarcastic but I wasn't sure. I can see Garrison saying something like what you said, all in good fun of course. I'm looking forward to this new age in PHC, I will definitely go into it with an open mind. :)

This was okay. I like Lilliie Mae but sometimes her fiddle just over powes the song and her voice is not necessary and this is one of those times. I look forward to her solo venture.

drtrolish What the hell is this supposed to mean? I'm a fan of Lillie Mae's, I'm looking forward to her solo album and saw her with Jack in concert, where I absolutely fell in love with her. The fact that she's a girl makes her even more badass in my opinion you judgmental ass. Back it up.

The fiddler's tacky tattoos distract from the performance. Real musicians and artists don's feel the need to express themselves through a tattoo.
