I love how the cinematography greatly compliments his music. Despite his feelings for cameras, Jack White should be on the screen more often - just like this where he doesn't even need to fake it, just go in and do the thing he loves most. I also love how even though he's older here, and it's so different from The White Stripes original, and he has played it a million different other ways it still gets to me like it did the very first time I heard it all those years ago. It's so amazing how when I look at my life now I see so many different things, things that have changed, except for this - it's the one thing that never changes - the purity, the sincerity, the passion, the pain, the feelings - really, it's something you can't precisely describe with words - this music that this man creates; over the years I've realized that it's not just The White Stripes, it's Jack White. Truly, he has touched something that's pure, and raw, and majestic - with his music. It makes you cry, smile, sing along, and laugh - it makes you look around and wonder if there really is a god; it makes you look up to the sun and say "Hey, this isn't too bad after all". This isn't too bad after all. I can literally listen to any White Stripes song, in any way, any version, any year, anywhere, and a million times - and they'll still never change. The songs, they remain the same. That's what's so great about it all. And if you feel the same way too, then be happy - you've found something that will keep you warm for the rest of your life, and quite possibly even after (if there's such a thing).
@DallasJaggard8 жыл бұрын
+MalloryJacobPacheco I wouldn't call that cinematography, I'd call it "Intern stumbling around with an expensive camera". The only thing that saves the video is the fact that we're all focused on Jack's genius and nothing else. But I do see the organic aspect you're talking about...
@blogotheque8 жыл бұрын
+Dallas Jaggard ""Intern stumbling around with an expensive camera" hahaha. If only.
@dont_be_jaded8 жыл бұрын
I totally agree. I really don't understand how some could call this an "intern stumbling around". This is beautiful, and the way it was filmed makes it even more so. The camera man is a genius and I don't understand how that's even a dispute. I feel like he was definitely on the same page with jack the whole time, and I can see this being something jack would love. Very raw and simple and pure.

The best! I’m sitting here crying from the sheer beauty of this music and the absolute genius of Jack White! I wish I had discovered him much sooner than I did. I feel sad that I missed 23 years of his music (though I have caught up with everything now). Now that I have found him, I search high and low for any news about him or his music. I MUST see him in concert again. I love this man, his musical genius and his mastery of the guitar, keys and drums. You touch my heart, Jack White, and I’m old enough to be your mama, but I love you anyway!
@Molly-MaryEHackenberger6 жыл бұрын
I just can't get enough of this song! I play it over and over, yet still love it more with each listen. Almost all Jack White's work is amazing, but the magic of this version comes from his authentically stiring performance of one of my favorite songs, recorded and filmed within the acoustic and aesthetic perfection of that otherworldly French chateau (that I would love to visit, then never leave...). These combined elements (and many more) have made this version of the song one of my top 5 favorites of all time -- and that's not a distinction I make lightly, considering how wide and varied and deep my musical tastes run... Jack White is unquestionably my pick for the most talented genius of the decade.

I've been to Fontainebleau several years ago, I love architecture especially French, but then again they may love our Scottish castles? Fontainebleau is 34 miles from Paris and once belonged to Nicolas Fouquet who aspired to become head of the French government, however Louis X1V was suspicious of his greed. He ended up keeping the Château for himself. Watching Jack White and his beautiful music at the Château has brought back some wonderful memories. Thank you.

I think I just realized why Jack White is now using blue. Blue seems to be present in all of his videos since Meg left. I think it is his way of showing how he misses her. Blue is not the specific opposite of red, Cyan is, but Red was chosen because of her. Blue is a pretty good representation of missing Red.

"Entitlement". Dude, so many people today (NOT ALL) really are so entitled today with such a lack of humility. This song is such a comfort, it helps me to know someone else "sees it" and doesn't know what to make of it either. Jack also wanted to be a priest, that's probably why he as a reflex for "penance" as he sings in the song; he has a lot of gratitude and guilt and doesn't want to be entitled when so many others do. ... This is kind of a stupid comment, I should have just said I like the song! lol.
