We have been driving to, and through Crescent City from Canada for over three decades, and as far as I am concerned it is my favourite California town. The hiking, seafood and friendly people make it a great place for us. There are a few affordable hotels and the camping is excellent. Drugs? Homelessness? Show me a California town of a similar size that doesn't have these problems. I love Crescent City and hope to return some time soon.

I have been there twice and recently last month July 22-24 2018. It is a very nice restful city with the best sunset views in Crescent City and especially Tolowa State Park. Rumiano cheese came from the Alexandre Farm near Tolowa State Park.

I'm missing the beauty, the silence, the darkness at night, and the slower pace of small town living in Crescent City. You can go live other places and get better entertainment options, more medical facilities, more crime, more noise, etc. But you won't find a more beautiful area anywhere.

I’ve been to almost every state in this country. I’ve lived on the east coast , west coast and in between. Nothing is more beautiful than Northern California and the Oregon coast. Unfortunately the coastal cities are poorly run. Instead of taking advantage of the scenery like a lot of east coast towns , they are living in the past. No jobs besides minimum wage , a lot of drug problems which of course are everywhere but because of the climate year round the homeless populations are through the roof which puts the drug problems in focus year round. As long as you have a job and a plan you’ll be alright . A lot of the companies at interviews literally tell you “ if you can pee clean you’re almost guaranteed a job” because most people here can’t. Sad situation.

I'm from Brookings, OR which is just north of Crescent City. I have lived here for 31 years and I can attest that inside the city limits of Brookings is FAR safer. However, I am really shocked that Terry Bradshaw didn't look into the charities that help the homeless in Crescent City. They are game changers, and should be looked at on a national level to inspire others to change and to show the proper way to begin a homeless shelter in your home town. At their homeless shelter, they give man a fish to eat while they teach him to fish for life, thus changing attitudes, hearts, and growing minds.

I stayed in CC 10 months last year for work. I've been traveling for many years and feel that I am fair and accurate when describing particular areas. First of all, I come from an area with all 4 seasons, so it was a little difficult accepting a place that only has 1 for the most part. The temp ranges from mid 40s to low 60s all year long. It's on the coast so it's naturally windy at all times. The rain is constant most of the year as well. Basically I'm saying to invest in hoodies!! .....

I grew up in Crescent City from 90s to 2002. I have lived all over the United States these past 21 years. The only thing that gives me a more nostalgic feeling for Del Norte county other than the smell of Pine or redwood trees is cloudy over cast weather with drizzle or light rain coming down sideways.😃

I lived in Crescent City and it's the most beautiful area of the United States. Ground zero is where the redwoods crash into the pacific, driftwood paradise! The Smith River is without a doubt some of the rawest and most treacherous rapids I've ever witnessed. The rumors are true about the meth problem, my buddy and I were the only people I seen with teeth! The locals are UP 24-7, and even the local taxi driver was a meth head who picked mushrooms that bloom once a year on one specific day. There were only a few bars in town, and lots of single hoes because Pelican Bay prison is close, and San Quentin prison so its a mix of druggie's and criminals.

@killedfromafar12 жыл бұрын
Don't get me wrong; I met alot of really cool people there. But these were the working class people. I also "met" many of the non-working class, and they are why that town is a virtual toilet. Ol' Terry Bradshaw failed to mention the terrible meth problem plaguing the city. Now for a nature lover, the area is magnificent. You can whale watch every day of the year there, walk the beaches, hike through the neverending trails, or take boat tours on many of the surrounding rivers....

The only thing recreational in Crescent City is the drug use. No jobs, no entertainment, and shopping?! Better plan on driving 2 hours to find any seemingly worthwhile stores. This video is horse shit. I was born there and I'd never live there again. The surfing is good though, haha!

Reasonable utility rates? Yea right! I have been here in Crescent shitty......er...I meant Crescent City, Ca for 3 years now and it SUCKS ASS!!! There are NO real doctors here and their utility rates are higher than normal! And the "safe neighborhoods" thing? Not a chance......We have one of the most highest rates of thieves here....! My truck got broke into 4 times in 3 months time and the damn cops did absolutely nothing about it...they told me I had to have video or it never happened! I told them they can take finger prints on my truck if they needed to just to prove it DID happen! I really hate this place!!! And you DON'T wanna move your family here unless you don't mind people breaking into your things or breaking down your door to your home!
@TheScienceofArt8 жыл бұрын
just out of curiousity, if i was intrested in moving to Crescent City what do u think would be the best/safest part of town to live in. are there any gated communities or really nice neighborhoods?
@1rednecker8 жыл бұрын
TheScienceofArt .....I don't recommend anyone moving here to tell you the truth! The homeless make their homes wherever they want and don't care to go to jail! The thieves are outrageous through the whole town! Your best bet is to move to Oregon.....Brookings is smaller but the crime rate ain't as bad as CC! They haven't changed the gun laws yet in Oregon, but they are trying to be like California on that part! Oregon is tax free, but that's because they add the taxes in the prices of everything! I would rather pay more for stuff I need then to be around assholes that are thieves......I will find the country and move there....WITH NO NEIGHBORS!!! Lol

Sounds to me like the K K K could be involved since 1934. Don't you think. I have a friend trying to get out and they are holding her hostage. The homeless? As for jobs - nothing worth relocating for. They've recently cut back on the fishing season so even the area's main business is hurting. There are several little stores and restaurants but that's not very lucrative of course. Pelican Bay maximum security prison is just north of town and many family members of inmates have relocated to CC over the years. This, combined with the infamous neighboring "Humboldt County" and its love of marijuana, has caused crime in this area to skyrocket...
