Description
The city of David is an archaeological site situated in Jerusalem. It is considered to be one of the most important historical and biblical sites in the world. The area is believed to be the original city center of ancient Jerusalem and also holds a religious and historical significance for the Jewish people.
Archaeological excavations at the City of David have unveiled numerous artifacts, structures, and ancient remains, shedding light on the city's rich history. Among the discoveries are ancient fortifications, water systems, tunnels, residential areas, palaces, administrative buildings, and religious structures.
The Hebrew Bible refers to the City of David as the city King David conquered and made the capital of the Kingdom of Israel in the tenth century BCE. The complex, which extends southward from the Temple Mount, includes the hill where the ancient city originally stood. It is located halfway between the Tyropoeon Valley and the Kidron Valley.
Today, the City of David is a popular tourist destination, attracting visitors from around the world who come to explore its ancient ruins, walk through its narrow tunnels, and learn about the rich history and religious significance of the site. Excavations and ongoing research continue to provide new insights into the ancient past of Jerusalem and its significance in the religious and cultural heritage of the Jewish people.

Please talk about the controversy if you talk about this in Bible study. Remember history is told by the victors. There is a lot of ancient Palestinian and non-Jewish history there and that context is missing from this narrative for political reasons.

What I especially love about this very well thought out tour of the City of David, is that you went to great lengths to take us back to the WHO and the WHEN of Biblical Archaeology. Also of special note, is the correct way of pronouncing the Hebrew prophets and others who figured well in ancient Hebrew history. Thank you for such an enlightening and informative piece of work. We American Christians really appreciate the actual Jewish perspective of what really happened in the Bible, and that archaeology continues to give us even more insight into the Bible. This was fascinating. However, I don't think ancient people could possibly have walked a quarter of a mile or more every time they needed the bathroom. Especially if they had diarrhea or needed the bathroom in the middle of night. And it would've been impossible to toilet train toddlers if the only place people were allowed to use the bathroom was all the way out there at the edge of town. Surely they must've had chamber pots in their homes and used them daily and then carried the waste to a public dumping hole every day, or something like that. Maybe the bathrooms he seems to suggest the archaeologists may have found on the edge of town were indeed public bathrooms but also used to dump chamber pots. The speaker also showed a dry pool and said he would explain why it's dry, but I don't think he explained it exactly, unless he's implying they drained it in order to try to read the inscription that the archeologists think may or may not be real. The best part of this video is the 2 seals/ bullae of 2 of the guys who stuck the prophet Jeremiah in a pit!!!!!! I mean, 2600 years after they tried to shut Jeremiah up, their official seals are still being used to prove that Jeremiah was right!!!!!

Been reading this part of the Bible again, nice to see it in situ, thanks…maybe camera person could respond to your cues a little more, and a little more timely-zooming in, panning to where you’re pointing, and including all of screens, etc… I know it takes time to learn, get comfortable with it. Also…It’s a pity that there are so many boorish people in the world these days. The ill-mannered parents who brought their ill-mannered children along on a tour should have left them behind, or not come at all, and if they are incapable of correcting them, should leave with them. People pay money to come see, learn, and HEAR a tour guide teach them things, and everyone who does so deserves to get what they paid for. Playgrounds are for (fairly) reckless abandon. Parents who think “no child should ever be restrained from self-expression” have created the worldwide mess we all see and detest to this day. These same brats grow up to demand that no one hurt their fragile feelings, nor restrain them from any and every whim their mind can conjure. And they screech all the more loudly as they grow. They talk rights (theirs, not yours) and can’t even comprehend their personal responsibility that is attached to each and every right we have. They’re inseparable. There is a time and a place for everything. And unrestrained hollering and screaming isn’t for public places, especially when indoors (other than playgrounds and gaming businesses). And btw, peds love, love, LOVE bad parents. Their children are so EASY to snatch, because they don’t keep an eye on their children, and will gab away on the phone, or stare at it, or will walk 10’, 25’, 100’, in front of or behind their child, or even have no idea where their child is in the store at all. That’s a kidnapper’s dream come true. They wouldn’t let a suitcase with $1 million in it get that far from them, but their supposedly priceless child is no big deal? Bottom line, keep an eye on your children, don’t let them act like the world is their playground, because it isn’t. A playground is a playground. So, teach them some manners on how to behave in public. And don’t take them places where they’ll be bored to tears and ruining it for everyone. If they beg to come along and then misbehave, march them right out of there, and there should be punishment for ruining it for yourself, like they’ll have to pay you back for the tickets from any allowance they get (please tell us all that you don’t just give your kids all the money they want, and that they do have to earn things). They wouldn’t repeat that mistake very soon. Screaming and running amok outside the playground is absolutely the behavior of low-class individuals. Money can’t buy class. It’s in one’s choices, interactions, respect for others, and general deportment. Have some of that, and you’re already miles above and ahead of the average person in the crowd these days.

The name Jerusalem is not Hebrew but Canaanite (Urusalem). King David conquered it circa 1,000 BC. After the fall of Jerusalem, it became a Byzantine Christian city Aelia Capitolina. Later under the Arabs it was named Al Quds (Holy City).

@fightinfetus
@fightinfetus 2 ай бұрын
Palestine has never been a country per se. “Palestinia/Palestine” is a made-up name to insult the Jews of Judea (now known as Israel, named after all tribes of Israel, rather than just Judah, but still not all their rightful land has been returned to Judah or all the tribes, either way. The Romans took over Jerusalem and the region, and renamed the region (so it’s a region, not a country), in an attempt to steal the identity of the Jews and all Israelites living in the region. Anyone living there where they took over was “Palestinian”, Jews, Arabs, ANYBODY. None are descendants of Philistines, but Rome made up a name similar to their (historically) worst enemies, the Philistines, as an insult to them, and to muddy the waters of their identity. And the uneducated of the world still fall for it. They prove how uninformed they are when they open their mouths. Jews ARE the tribe of Judah. “Jew” is short for Judah. Their land records go back well over 3,000 years, and are VERY detailed as to which tribe of Israel got what. Every stream, hill, large tree, mountain and other features quite specifically outline THEIR lands. If they were to enforce it, they’d be kicking a lot of people off of land that is rightfully Israeli land, and a few countries would go bye-bye. They’ve been far too gracious, and it’s got them nothing but grief. And btw, Gaza is clearly 100% Jewish land (tribe of Judah). They have the oldest claim to it, and the records are crystal clear and irrefutable. In fact, there are many identical copies, found in various places over time, showing that these records were absolutely part of ancient governmental, national records that were distributed so others would also have copies of the records. Quite official.

The Holy Quran itself reveals about the purpose of its revelation in the following words... "A guidance and mercy for the righteous ones." (Surah Luqman Verse 3) Who are the righteous ones?? This is also answered in Surah Baqarah, Verse 3 and 4. "Those who guard against evil, believe in the unseen, are steadfast in their prayers, spend out of what Allah have provided for them and who believe in that which was revealed upon Prophet Muhammad and that which was revealed before him, and are certain of the hereaftar".

The true location of the 12 tribes of Israel ( Igbo or ibo language: I Zara Eli, meaning ' you answered God' ) are at this day in Igbo land and settled according to the " The Order of Encampment and Marching' as God instructed Moses and Aaron in [ Numbers 2:3-32]. Their location was around the Temple at Jerusalem (Igbo language: iyi e rusala m, meaning "evil should not touch me") which is the Holy City Called today Owerri ( Igbo language: Owe eri, meaning Leaders from time immemorial ) in Imo State Southern Eastern Nigeria is the Original city of King David and we got the evidence to prove it. Today Jerusalem has nothing to do with the Ancient city of David, because it a man made city created by the westerners. The Original city is in southern Eastern Nigeria today which is the land of canaan pronounced as 'Oke nna' meaning 'allotment of the father'. Today, Jerusalem is in a wrong location and got nothing to do with the biblical city of Jerusalem and their is no archaeological evidence to prove that today Jerusalem is the ancient Jerusalem.

Firstly, as Al Masjid Al Aqsa was central to the lives of many of his fellow Prophets (as) with whom he shared an exceptional bond (as the Islam taught by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is a continuation, completion and perfection of the religion and message of monotheism preached by all the prophets of Allah including Prophet Adam (as), Prophet Nuh (as), Prophet Ibrahim (as) (of whom Prophet Muhammad (saw) was a descendant through his son Ismaeel (as)), Prophet Musa (as), Prophet Daoud (as), Prophet Suleiman (as), and Prophet Isa (as) to name a few), Al Masjid Al Aqsa also by definition had a central place in his life and heart. In addition to this, up until the 2nd year of Hijra (623/624AD), the Prophet Muhammad (saw) turned and faced Al Masjid Al Aqsa as the direction for his prayers. In his lifetime though, the most memorable reason why Al Masjid Al Aqsa has such significance is because it was the place to which he travelled on the night of Israa, and it was the location from which he made his Miraaj to the Heavens. In the books of Hadith, we learn that the Prophet (saw) went to visit the Ka’bah at night, and fell asleep. The Angel Jibreel (Gabriel) then awoke him and led him to a winged white beast named Buraq. It was on Buraq that the Prophet (saw) then made the journey to Jerusalem (a journey that would typically take 40 days) in just one momentous night. On reaching Jerusalem, the Prophet (saw) met and led all the previous Prophets in prayer at the site of Al Masjid Al Aqsa, and then embarked on the Miraaj to the Heavens. The journey of Israa was such a momentous occasion that Allah revealed verses relating to this journey in the Holy Quran - “Glorified be He [Allah] Who did take His servant for a journey by night from Al Masjid Al Haram to Al Masjid Al Aqsa, whose precincts We did bless, in order that We might show him some of Our Signs. Verily He is the All Hearing, All Seeing” [17:1]. After the death of the Prophet Muhammad (saw), the second khalif of Islam (who was also a close companion of the Prophet Muhammad (saw)), Umar Ibn Al Khattab, entered and mercifully liberated Jerusalem (accompanied by 40,000 sahaba) on the invitation of the Christian leader at the time, without shedding blood and with the guarantee of protection for the lives, property and places of worship of others within the city who wished to remain there. As Umar’s personality and characteristics closely resembled and matched those of the liberator of Jerusalem foretold within scriptures, the people of the city were quick to embrace and accept his rule. As mentioned earlier, when he arrived at the site of Al Masjid Al Aqsa in 637/638AD, he didn’t find a place of prayer but rather a plot of land that had been left barren and had been used as a rubbish tip by the Romans. Upon seeing this he took the responsibility to remove the waste with his own hands and to rebuild Al Masjid Al Aqsa. Both the Christians and the Jews were pleased with the arrival of Umar and the Muslims, and with their just rule. In 691/692AD, Abd’ al Malik bin Marwan began constructing what is nowadays known as the Dome of the Rock on top of the rock which some believe was the place where Prophet Muhammad (saw) embarked on his Miraaj to the Heavens. However, it must be noted that regardless of whether the rock has importance for this reason, its main significance derives from it being within the boundaries of Al Masjid Al Aqsa and therefore part of Al Masjid Al Aqsa. The Muslims lost Al Masjid Al Aqsa to the Crusaders in 1099AD and were the victims of one of the darkest and most bloody days in its history. On arrival into Jerusalem. the Crusaders announced that they would not take any prisoners, resulting in a large proportion of the Muslims fleeing to Al Masjid Al Aqsa in order to seek refuge. The Crusaders later entered the blessed Masjid and massacred thousands of Muslims inside. Al Masjid Al Aqsa was then converted into a palace, and it took 88 years before the Muslims reclaimed it in 1187 under the leadership of the great leader Salahuddin Ayyubi. His reclamation of Jerusalem and Al Masjid Al Aqsa was reminiscent of Umar Ibn Al Khattab’s liberation five centuries earlier, and was a stark contrast to the actions of the Crusaders just a generation prior. Like Umar Ibn Al Khattab, Salahuddin Ayabbi did not allow a massacre of civilians or soldiers, and after reclaiming Al Masjid Al Aqsa he also used his own hands to clean the blessed land, and famously sprinkled rosewater through the Masjid. The Muslims once again had unhindered control of Jerusalem and Al Masjid Al Aqsa for a significant period of time - approximately eight centuries - and their rule was characterized by peace, justice and prosperity, with Al Masjid Al Aqsa becoming a great centre of learning with scholars from all over the world travelling to study and teach within its blessed precincts. Throughout almost this entire period, the Christians and Jews were provided safety and protection, and their rights were respected as People of the Book.
