What Lb test good for those size fish Would a 300 or 400 size bait caster work for a trip like that?

400 is better but 300 you should be chillen

I would use 50 pound spectra with 100 yards of 25 mono on a 400 size reel.

a 400 size bait caster like a diawa lexa 400 or okuma komodo. and buy a rod at least 7ft rated 15-30 lbs medium heavy. and spool the reel with 65 lbs braid
