My Grandma, Grandpa and some uncles,Godfather and other ancestors are laid to rest here. I make the trip to The Bronx to just sit down in the grass and think about them and to pray and remind them that they are loved and not forgotten. I’m proud to be from The Bronx..I’m proud of my family. Our name lives on. East 233rd Street forever!

Right across from Miles Davis is Duke Ellington, how did you miss that! I also saw Irving Berlin, and Herman Melville. I was there to find my great grandparents, and I was able to find them!

thank you for this as I found a map with street names which will help me to find graves in the Lakeside area.

Very informative. Woodlawn is very near and dear to my heart as I have many family members at rest there. I hope to be there as well. I just did a photo shoot of mausoleums and graves in the southern part of the cemetery last month. One correction: The main entrance is northeast on Webster Ave & 233rd St., not Jerome Ave. The Jerome Ave. entrance is larger and grander which leads to the confusion.

thanks for the info. I was brought there by friends and that is their usual entrance. I hope to do another video of some other parts of the cemetery.

Very interesting. I lived near there when I was a kid. I also have great grandparents from Italy that were born in the late 1800's at rest there.

It is a beautiful cemetery. I have friends who actually stroll through it occasionally because of the peace and beauty of the place, even though they have no relatives buried there. It was they who recommended I visit Woodlawn.
