I came here to say exactly that! As an inexperienced solo street skater (I do a lot of London organised street skates, which are awesome, but those are hundreds of us, with Marshalls to lead the way, and guard us from traffic). I would love a video with mostly rear POV, preferably camera held high over you, and ideally either a live or post-dubbed commentary: how do you decide which routes, when to switch from pavement to road, which obstacles to avoid, jump or plough through Which junctions to take at speed, which ones to slow and stop? Was this a familiar route to you, so you knew every element and hazard, or was it virgin, and your decisions are wholly reactive? Keep up the great vids!

Please, make it standard. I didn't know it befor but I need more fakie skating with the camera in the back, this was sweet!

Thanks! The from-behind perspective is just not as easy or simple. Holding a stick in front is much easier and gives better control than sticking it out behind you. It’s tough when you can’t tell exactly how far behind it is, or at which angle it is. I’ll still try to get more of this perspective though and work on it. Thanks for watching!

@@rerollinginline the 3 POVs here are brilliant, the music is perfect, so are the vibe and compositio ... No need for a voiceover. Thanks! I didn't expect to enjoy urban skating as much as I do. I learned to skate playing pickup roller hockey and stopped doing that at 16 years old. 22 years later at 38, I dug the hockey skates out to shoot around in rinks for some exercise. A couple months later I tried urban skating and completely fell in love. My one piece of advice is to make sure you can do it safely. I spent a lot of time and attention to honing my skills (like stopping techniques) before trying to skate in the city, which is inherently dangerous. Thanks for watching and commenting!

I'm sure there are tutorial for technique, but I've never really been a big learner from tutorials. I like to just skate and experiment. I'll watch videos for general tips, but figure things out through trial-and-error mostly. As for how much you should skate - I don't know, lol. I'm not a trainer or anything, but I've always followed the rule of "listen to your body". If you don't think you're overdoing it, then you're probably not. If you feel like you need a break, or you're injuring yourself, you should probably ease off some.

@rerollinginline2 жыл бұрын
The skates in this video are FR1 Deluxe Intuition. Gear is listed in the description of the video. I don't have experience with the zoom 80 or either of the flying eagle models you mentioned, but they will all probably feel similar. They're all plastic hard shell urban skates with 4x80mm wheel setups. Are your powerslides the zooms or the zoom pro? I'm asking because the zoom pro will allow you to just buy a new frame for the same boot if you wanted to experiment with other setups, like 3 wheel skates for example. You'll need a trinity mount frame, like these: powerslide.com/collections/powerslide-urban-frames But if you have just the regular zooms, and the frame is riveted to the boot, you won't be able to only change the frame and wheels

These are "Triple 8 Kneesaver" but they're pretty low quality, if I'm being honest. I've had them slide down during falls and still got road rash. I wear them because they're slim. Any advice to how to overcome the fear of falling ?
@rerollinginline2 жыл бұрын
Not particularly, unfortunately. I learned to skate as a fearless kid. Luckily when I laced back up again at 38 years old, I seemed to have maintained my core abilities and balance, so I can't remember what it's like to be learning how to skate. Wear lots of protection is the obvious one. Some people recommend learning how to fall properly and trying it, but I've never spent time on that specifically. Hopefully over time you'll learn how to push yourself, but still be pretty safe and not put others at risk either if you're skating near people. I personally don't push myself as hard as I possibly could. I'm 40 now and I just want to enjoy myself. I still challenge myself, but not like I would have 20 years ago. Stay safe and happy skating!

Do you have recommendations for knee and head protection etc.? What do you use?
@rerollinginline2 жыл бұрын
My helmet is the “Triple 8 Dual Certified Mips” and I don’t have any problems with it. I always wear it and it never bothers me. Hopefully I’ll never find out hot protective it is! I wear “Triple 8 Kneesaver” knee pads, but I can’t really recommend them. The build quality is cheap and they’re not very protective. I wear them because they’re lightweight. They have saved me from injury at times, but I’ve also had them slide down during a fall and I still got road rash. A risk I take by wearing them

@@edgar1013 yeah I suppose a more accurate way to express it is hours rolled. I’d guess if I’m skating 5 times per week, I wouldn’t get much past 10 weeks or so on a set of wheels. I usually average around an hour per session, so maybe like 50 hours? Very rough estimate, of course.

Imagine if this will become the norm of human daily transportation, and most workplace has bathrooms to rinse off the sweat. 😅❤️
@rerollinginline2 жыл бұрын
That would be awesome. Too few businesses/offices have showers making it hard to sweat your way into work! Though I work fully remote now so I get to skate during a work break and get as stinky as I want, lol.

Hello brother , can i know name your rollers?

Nice video! Quick question, how long does your wheels normally last?
@rerollinginline2 жыл бұрын
I’m not entirely sure, but a rough estimate is about 50-60 hours. It all depends of course on how much sliding I do, the surfaces I’m on etc.

what speeds r u travelling at typically when u go full blast on main roads?
@rerollinginline2 жыл бұрын
Full blast on this setup (4x90 rockered) is probably around 20mph. If conditions allow, of course. Average is probable 15mph or so.
