I think it's timely to put rollerblading as an official sport so people will learn how to do it safely, because it's a healthy sport and tones the body, environmentally friendly, it boost mental health and a great way to know people. It even slows down aging too.

Hey rollerblading and also a lot of yardwork has made me insanely ripped. I skate on the main roads and sometimes get flipped off. But I think most people really enjoy seeing you do some tricks.

I miss those Friday Night Skate they used to have in many cities across the globe. I've done the Friday Night Skate in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Berlin, Paris and a few other cities that I have since forgot. The one in Paris had 30,000 skaters every Friday at its peak. Everyone who had hockey experience would fly through the crowd like an obstacle course. Fun days.

Man this is just so mesmerising, I used to stree skate back in the mid 90s through too early 2000s. I absolutely loved it, living in Washington state at the time then moved back to the UK in 2000 and everyone looked at me like a weirdo so eventually I stopped. Wish I never let people judgment get to me. But watching this dude, wow, it just looks like so much fun and I can't stop watching.

I was born and raised in NYC. Have driven her since the age of 16, 31 now. I've driven everything on wheels in this city. Large trucks, semi-trucks, cars, motorcycles, inline skates, etc. I have raced in cars and motorcycles. Most of my work has been driving in the city. I free skate in the city and ice skate very well. Based on this experience, over time, with this little amount of protection and this amount of risk, it is almost inevitable that you will get hit hard.

How can you drive safely in traffic like this? I don't understand the braking in particular. Can you do an emergency stop at such a speed in case a car in front of you brakes sharply? How do you brake to zero at such high speed. for example at traffic lights, intersections or crosswalks.

If i lived in manhattan this would definitely be one of my primary modes of transportation, something like this just isnt feasible in orlando 😢
@RISk8ers
@RISk8ers Жыл бұрын
What makes Orlando not feasible for skating? The heat?? Isn't it like 60 -70's like 8 months of the year? I was in Lake Placid in August your hottest month of the year, while it is a small town area I went rollerblading 2-3 hours at a time in that heat perfectly fine.
@norith4300
@norith4300 Жыл бұрын
@@RISk8ers it’s usually in the 80’s and high 90’s most months bro. I don’t know where you’re getting your analytics from but it’s way off. But no it’s not due to temps.the city itself downtown or just if you live in the suburbs just isn’t very accommodating for anything other than cars and bicycles. Also everything is very far from each other. Somewhere like manhattan where it makes no sense to own a car. Va’s somewhere like Orlando where it can take you an hour to get from one side to the other via car just makes no sense.
@RISk8ers
@RISk8ers Жыл бұрын
@@norith4300 My parents live in Florida. From the top of Florida to the Middle has an average temperate of 68 for 8 - 9 months of the year, the south to the middle has an average temperature of 75 for those same 8 - 9 months. Its only May - August where you get higher temps. August typically being the hottest month. (Google says for the last 12 months the months I mentioned are the ONLY months to even hit 80+ temperature averages. You might be on drugs or something.... the current month your high temperature has been 75) If you have bike lanes are you not allowed to rollerblade in them? When I was in Orlando it didn't look any different than NYC or Boston in regards to being able to rollerblade.
@norith4300
@norith4300 Жыл бұрын
@@RISk8ersif you were staying downtown it wouldn’t be much of an issue. But trying to go across town i just don’t see it feasible. Yes there are bike lanes but not everywhere and people in Orlando are vastly jerks when it comes to bicyclists alone. And idk what to tell you about your understanding of the weather here. I’m born and raised in Orlando for 31 years. The 60’s and 70’s are definitely NOT the norm except for around winter and early spring.
@RISk8ers
@RISk8ers Жыл бұрын
@@norith4300 I litterally looked up the temperatures on google for the last 12 months. Those are the exact stats google will give you for the temperatures. We have a multi billion dollar company computing the temperatures or Joe Shmoe coming out to check the temp in his boxer shorts every morning which one would you consider the more accurate source? People anywhere are jerks when it comes to bikes and rollerblades on the street or in designated sections. In Boston for instance there are bike lanes and the city bus will be parked right in the middle of the lane. Just to give you an idea I am not knocking your comment about Orlando being big. The city of Orlando is actually larger than the distance of going from the top right to the bottom left side of my whole state just to give you an idea. =) Orlando is 1/3 the size of NYC though. I think it really depends where you are trying to go. I typically do distance skating, my record to date is 128 miles in 1 day. On an average day I do 30 or so miles though.

I know people think NY is all busy and congested but everyone is driving so chill and slow, and far from each other, and the lanes are so wide. In most european cities it's impossible to go so fast on dense streets, at least 10% of people are morons and will hit you/try to get out the way but go into the exact wrong place, as I skate or ride I give every parked car loads of clearance as they will just fling their doors open, or pull out without signalling, or a ped will jump out from in between, and with every damn car being a stupid suv now you cant even see peds through them
