I got a porcelain countertop for my island and it's 9 ft long, no seams, all from one slab. I chose it because of it's technical abilities, look and it's what I needed for my invisible cooktop. This lady needs to go back to drawing board on Porcelain. They are used in more applications than just flooring or tiled countertops. Check out Crossville Porcelain countertops.

Actually, you can get porcelain in large slabs that you can use on your countertops.

Where can you get large slabs of porcelain tiles for countertops?
@DarkAryen6 жыл бұрын
Joie, I was thinking the same thing. Porcelain countertop exist for more than 10 years! They are harder than any other material available, more heat resistant, come in huge sizes, are way lighter, imitate stone, cement, wood, metal and marble but are much more affordable. I am disappointed with this "expert" video.

Charles, take a look at this manufacturer for example: www.florim.com/en/florimstone/collections/ There is plenty more out there.

Go to MSI Granite store. They have 120x60 size. Last week they had about 10 on display, but you can order more their website.
@rinkevichjm6 жыл бұрын
yes there is a manufacturer in Italy and several of the major tile distributor use them including MSI. This lady has no idea what she is talking about. 5ftx10ftx.25" or.5"with some spare. cut it like granite or quartz and grout the edges and any seams with epoxy grout (quartz is seamed with epoxy).

You can use porcelain for countertops. You just need a slab instead of the tile. They come in the same sizes 5x10 feet now and you won't have seams and grout

Marble is not practical in the kitchen. It can be scratched and can absorb stains. It is relatively soft.

I have a marble coffee table and as beautiful as it is and as much as I love it you’re 100% correct it’s a pain in the ass as a coffee table I cannot imagine it in a kitchen what a nightmare that would be!

My fav part of this video is the title " alternatives to high-end marble countertops" and then when they talk about the porcelain.... "you can't use this as countertop"... and as others have pointed out, porcelain can come in large slabs.

What is the difference between cultured marble, stone resin, polymarble, solid surface and Acrylic composition? What can be considered major positives and negatives for each of these types of bathroom vanity counters with built in sinks integrated in one piece? Are these fabricated vanities durable long lasting, heat resistant, color change resistant, chip resistant and any other item to consider?
@bobforsale2 жыл бұрын
What? Nothing on quartzite? Natural, harder than granite, and you can get slabs that look like marble.

You can get porcelain tiles as large as 16x24.

No, you can get them in 24 X 48, so you can use it for bathroom countertops.

We have a product here in Europe called silestone which is the same as the Caesar stone and we purchased 3 slabs to do our kitchen in pure white....after a couple of years they started to turn creamy yellow I wont not use that product ever again. The weirdest thing is the integrated sink has stayed white but not the counter tops
@NativeNYerChicHK4 жыл бұрын
Ummmmm... Caesarstone is NOT heat resistant. It warns of burn potential with high heat and so always recommends using trivets. ALL brands of man made resin/stone-look solid surface countertop materials do. All quartz will melt at high temps, which is exactly what Caesarstone is, even if they want to set themselves apart. It’s just a brand of quartz, man made with resins and either glass or stone dust.

Yeahhhh large porcelain slabs are a thing. For a loooong time now. We are doing slab showers 9’ tall and waterfall island with porcelain slab. It’s gorgeous, durable and looks like marble or quartz depending on what you choose. And far more inexpensive.

I want to live in my kitchen, not for my kitchen. Am I the only one out there that does not care about FANCY counter tops? If it looks nice and is economical that is big.
@deidrabay2 жыл бұрын
She's not right about the composition of solid surface. It's not all plastic. Read this info from Corian, a major solid surface brand. "Corian® is a solid, non-porous surfacing material homogeneously composed of ±1/3 acrylic resin (also known as PolyMethyl MethAcrylate or PMMA), and ±2/3 natural minerals. The main ingredient is the mineral Aluminum TriHydrate (ATH) derived from bauxite, an ore from which aluminum is extracted." And, she's not right about the composition of quartz countertops either. Quartz countertops are not all quartz. They, of course, contain quartz but they also contain resins (like "solid surface") that basically glue the quartz contents together.
@christophervaliente9346 жыл бұрын
Quartz looks nice. But don't put a hot pot on it. AKA kitchen countertop....and it is highly flammable . It's basically a whole bunch of chemicals pressed together. It would catch on fire before anything else .But they don't tell you that . And they are wrong . Porcelain comes in huge slabs that can be fabricated to look great with all the benefits of granite.
@sharoncourt756 жыл бұрын
Christopher Valiente i will like to know where to buy the porcelain in a slab not ganite tile i dont like granite bussy patterns. Tnaks.
@rinkevichjm6 жыл бұрын
quartz is less flammable than wood. It is mostly sand and 7-15% glue. It won't flash below 900F (500C)
@mybestideas15 жыл бұрын
That is because it is synthetic.
@briizhub80525 жыл бұрын
Christopher Valiente what? I thought quartz was impervious to heat ?
@1uhot4264 жыл бұрын
Who the hell goes around putting hot pots from the stove on the counter top ?!lol Like i never done that in my 34 years of life lol N if i did wanna put a pot, that was hot on the counter top, i would have it sitting on something so it's not directly on the counter.

Wait... "you can't use porcelain tile for a countertop because... of grout" ...huh? Grouted countertops have been around forever, and using large and "rectified" pieces, the grout lines are few and very narrow. The term "expert" is way overused these days...

Ceasarstone looks fake. No.I would rather "worry" about marble and love it for being authentic!
