Burnside Neutral 2030 - LiDAR Canopy Mapping

One of the City of Burnside's strategic priorities is to conserve and enhance canopy cover throughout the Council area. Because of this, we've partnered with Green Adelaide and 18 other councils across Adelaide to map tree cover, green spaces, urban heat and built environment across our cities.
Through the use of Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) technology, we are able to track how we are improving in multiple environmental areas, including our overall canopy coverage.
Compared to 25 per cent canopy coverage in 2018 and 2019, the City of Burnside's canopy coverage in 2022 was 31 per cent! 🌳
