The drive from EP to Loveland through the Big Thompson River is the most beautiful drives I've ever driven. ❤

The weekend before this flood happened. There was a Scottish Festival in Estes Park, a big one. Me and my Mom And Dad where there. We left before it started raining, and it would have been so much worse, if it had started during the festival. So highway 34, the road we used, was wiped out, in so many places. However, but November of 2013 highway 34 was reopened. Some of it was still gravel, but they did it. Interesting not, that as late as 2017, 34 was still being worked on. To the point where they moved it up onto the side of a hill in one place. Also some of the houses that where destroyed, where never rebuilt. Lots of work was done along the river to mitigate future floods. And it will happen again. Since I've lived in Cheyenne Wyoming, moved here in 1974, the Big Thompson River has flooded twice. Living in a canyon, or by a river can be nice, but it will flood, sooner or later.
