3:48 When you have unemployed beavers (two at this moment) and your district center is not completely staffed, go in there and increase the number of employees, so things get build faster. By default a district center has two builders, but it can have up to four. (Alternatively, if you don't have enough materials, just get more lumberjacks for the time being. You can pause the LJ flags later.) 17:30 "We have 25 potatoes that apparantly nobody is interested in grabbing them - what's going on?" - Those need to be grilled first, and for grilling them you need logs (for fire). (The grill is fully stocked with potatoes, but has no logs.) Your colony is out of logs (the cutting areas were almost exhausted, you decided to not mark more logging areas, and the few logs which were produced were used for the water wheel). 20:00 "We actually have stairs right there. So we are going to mark off those" [marks the trees for demolition, not for cutting] - If resources are "demolished", you get nothing out of it. The dried trees (at least the big ones, not the little stumps) can still be harvested by a lumberjack! And the trees for the road can also be cut by Lumberjacks instead of the builders, this way you get logs out of it. Same for 42:05 "I marked these resources for demolition [...] I'd rather have the wood at this point in time" 22:13 As long as you have only one farm for an area, you should normally have it set to prioritize planting. This way your farmers will replant directly after harvesting, and you use the growing time better, instead of getting those large non-planted patches as we see here. (Exception: shortly before a drought, when you know your newly planted crops won't survive anyways, you set the farms to harvest whatever they can before it goes bad.) 27:17 "If they are starting to chop these down, we'll be in a bad spot, as they won't regrow" - I think you got the regrow-logic of trees wrong. A fully-grown tree will occasionally spawn a sapling of the same species nearby (if it's alive and watered). Chopped trees don't regrow by themselves (independent of watering situation). So to keep a steady supply of new trees (without a forester), you need to have some fully-grown trees non-chopped, but your stripe pattern takes care of that (as long as the droughts don't get so long that they die). No need to stop chopping during the dry season. 31:01 Instead of stacking the warehouse where it's difficult to each, I'd build one in a different location. One option would be just below the ridge, where you've build the long stairway just afterwards, and then put another one on top of it (accessible from the existing road in the upper level). 31:29 "And it's interesting: now that I got rid of the gatherer, they are going after these" - The reason is the builders' range. Builders follow roads from the district center, and then go up to 8 more tiles to build or demolish things. (When you select the town center, you get the roads and the building range highlighted.) You just added two pieces of road in the direction of the berries (for the stairs to the warehouse), this is why they now could reach two more rows of berry bushes. (Got it at 39:25) 36:02 "Without the Hauling post, we're in a spot where he pumps water, he walks it back over here" - It's not quite as bad. Each building has some capacity for storage of its product, and other beavers can come and take it from there when needed. (E.g. the builders (and Grill/Lumber mill/etc.) can also take logs directly from Lumberjack flags, you don't need a log pile when you don't have many logs to store anyways). For the water pump, nearby thirsty beavers can simply drink in the water pump, and only when it's full, the pumping beaver will go and transport several buckets of it to the water storage. Also, when Lumberjacks or gatherers have nothing to do, they also will help carrying. (Of course, a Hauling Post improves it, as the haulers are stronger and can carry more at once, and work in parallel to the pumping beaver.) 37:39 [building mini lodges] Just for your note: As a Mini Lodge has only one beaver in it, that one won't produce any children. (But a beaver from somewhere else can go there, making space for the next baby.) 43:06 "They are building this! Oh I told them not to, and they did it anyway" - When there is no progress to be made for a higher-priority building (e.g. because some material is missing), they will build the lower-priority ones. Your water tank had all the planks it needed, so they could use extra planks for the platforms. I don't think there is a way of prioritizing production input (for the gear maker) compared to building. (Though you can select "prioritize building by haulers" in the production building, maybe that helps a bit?)
@Franchise11072 жыл бұрын
The grill one hurt to see, the second he didn't mark the higher trees to be cut (even though they'd still regrow during the wet season) foreshadowed it running out of logs quickly.

Love that you are playing Timberborn. I really like this game and I really like your videos. What a great combination. FYI: Don't waste your beaver's time removing stumps. Stumps can be paved over, built over, and plowed over as if they were not there! The potato famine was caused by a lack of wood to bake the 25 potatoes in the warehouse. When you "demo" dead trees, instead of cutting them, you lose out on the (2) wood they provide.

lol, no wood to grill potatoes, destroys all bushes, doesn’t realize that adult trees & bushes with berries spread to stumps faster than empty spaces (so shouldn’t clear cut & you don’t need a forester but those forester-trees spread to stumps as well). Uses platforms for some reason when stairs and a path would be so much cheaper early game as beavers can, in fact, swim. Entertaining video!
@Nev69992 жыл бұрын
Quick tips: 1. For storage set the desired amount to "none", this will stop the beavers from needlessly transporting storage between stockpiles (water, food etc.) this will make sure one storage becomes full before they begin using the next one. 2. When you have 1 farm, set it to prioritise planting, this will make your crops staggered with growth. So when your beaver harvests a crop then he immediately plants a new one before harvesting another. When you have 2 farmhouses you can set 1 to planting and 1 to harvesting. This will help out your early game. 3. If you click on a beaver, you can hover over the star for each stat. Food provides different stats for them. From memory carrots increase life duration so they are essential. 4. Don't expand too fast, you need to micromanage the early game and you can do this by pausing buildings. E.g pause your farm while you wait for your first set of crops to grow (thats 4+ days of a beaver doing nothing), during droughts pause your water pump if it isnt pausing water. 5. Rush a forester ASAP, especially on maps like this where trees are in short supply 6. Don't delete trees early game xD. Even the dead trees give you logs 7. Beavers consume 3 water per day. So this should help you plan for droughts Oh yeah, also farm houses have storage of 50 crops if your storage becomes full

It's so funny, with this season and the last one. Seeing CPP doing all this big, impressive planning (as you would expect) but for it to end up being the main problem. Like planning for a big community from the start and then running into trouble because he can't feed the 10 beavers he has xD
@steeneugenpoulsen81742 жыл бұрын
Weird strategy. You don't need storage of any kind to start out, all the gather building has build in storage, for the water it has 15 storage, that beavers can drink from and you have less beavers than that, so no need for wasting time and resources on storage, before building houses. The lumber and gather flags has storage too, so why bother using time on making storage that is NOT being used, in this early part of the game you will be using the lumber faster than it's harvested. You need to progress way deeper into the game before storage become a factor and then it's only indirectly because it allows you to ferry lumber to a storage next to a mega plank/gear/paper/whatever setup. You don't need food storage at all, since farms and other food buildings has build in storage. Again storage is for using with haulers to move far away resources close to the beavers "rest" spot or for ferrying to districts. It's not startup town features, but advanced late game gameplay.

19:02 you need logs to lit the fire off the grill, i made this same mistake too :/, and you don't need plataforms, beavers are aquatic creatures, so you just need stairs down in the water and make a path underwater :D
@PauxloE2 жыл бұрын
With platforms they run a tiny bit faster than under water. But in the beginning, when there is a log/plank shortage, using stairs is certainly better.
@morebakeder2 жыл бұрын
helpful tip for this map, stairs more important than platforms. you can get into water, make a path to another island and make another stair. this will get you around the map faster and uses less resources than platforms, not as pretty but you can build them later. learn stairs first than forester second and your off to a good start on this map.
@sitrilko2 жыл бұрын
You only need about 1 pump per 20 beavers, and about 1 farmstead per 15 beavers (or even better ratio later on with higher order food production and other food sources like aquatic (which seem to be way more efficient but susceptible to droughts waaaay more)). Plus, beavers drink about 2 units of water per day, so you can calculate your water supply for droughts bases of off that (if you have no reservoirs you can use to pump during droughts). If I may advise, make dedicated storages - particularly 1 for raw foods and 1 (ideally the 1000 one) for edible foods. What can happen is that your production of X may be out of whack, it will flood your entire storage and everything else will produce so much slowly because you don't have storage. I find the 2 dedicated storage spaces for food to work really, really well.

I normally play on hard and every second is important at the start of the game. So watching you basically taking it really casual and wasting the entire first day and barely building anything in the first 3 days, was so painful to watch. xD Also the amount of misplays is tragic and comical. Usually I find tons of mistakes hard to watch, but the calming carefree tone of your casual commentary makes it watchable and entertaining. Great commentary goes a long way, You earned a sub! lol

Berries don't die when there is a drought, so while it seems useless to have berries as a food source. When dry season hits, potatoes die off, but berries continue to be harvestible. Building beaver dams and beaver ponds allow for crops to have damp soil even through dry spells. Normally in the first couple dry seasons, if you find a place to dam some water, you can keep farms going anytime. (During hard mode you sometimes need to survive a 30 day drought).

Why I miss the history times where one person shows games in magazines and after some times we folks can buy themselves over many years? If we folks use old computers or consoles we can play this old games e.g. C:S over a long time! Timberborn is so young in opposite to C:S with so an early access (in opposite to C:S too!) but this kind of games do you not use same books how do you read from front to back and then use another, right?

Just cruising through the old playlist while I am playing as well. Would love to see your take on the new update 5. Cheers from Cali.

I played that map last week, I found that the easiest way to ip things like water wheel power and surviv3 droughts was massive dam works, I ended up blocking all but 1 outlet on the right half of the map but make sure it has controllable flood gates and it keeps the water in for up to 5 days of drought...

At some point you need to make some kind of salad bowl or something someplace on this map (for obvious reasons)

They added a narrow water wheel as part of the update. Gives you more options than having to dynamite everything.

The beaver AI needs to be told bluntly what is and isnt in its queue. Just pause unwanted buildings if you have an urgent need. Ideally priority would be handled better but they seem to work on all projects to differing amounts.

Grill need logs, removing trees does not produce wood, you were low on logs most of the time

MATN brought me to RCE brought me to Biffa brought me here to CPP. I LOVE THIS CHANNEL 😀 Quick question: Why were platforms required towards the first Water Wheel and Forester @10:30 but not required for the other side where the stairs went down @28:20 ?

I love all your content, especially Verde Beach. Have you played Anno 1800 and thought about doing a series on that one?

Grilling burns logs and you were out of logs. Hence the missing resource

Can someone tell me the benefit of potatoes? It takes longer to grow per unit of potato, you have to use labor to haul them to the grill then use labor to grill them. I just don’t see the benefit over carrots.
