So simple and easy to understand. Without the tutorial it would never have occurred to me that there are only 7 different buoys. Thank you very much. :)

Thanks, I moved to Taiwan and rent a powerboat here, language differences make it impossible to find any RYA courses here. Your videos are very good

hi, the river hamble preferred channel says the port channel, you then pointed to the right side(starboard channel) as the preferred channel, I'm confused? Surely as you were going into the channel/river then port is left starboard is right so surely you should have taken the left /port channel not the right/starboard channel?
@CitySailing2 жыл бұрын
You leave the preferred channel buoy on your port side which means you take the starboard on the two channels, have a look again, it is at 11:16 in.

@@CitySailing Yes I'm just getting my head round this, it's not telling you which channel to take its telling you what side to keep the bouy on. Seems a little convoluted but there it is.Thank you

Question. I saw this in a movie. If the channel lights on your charts aren't exactly the same as the actual lights in the sea, is that suspicious, even if it's a slight difference? In the movie, it caused a shipwreck on coral reefs.
@CitySailing9 ай бұрын
They should match up, if the chart is outdated and not corrected then it will not. Sometimes the lights do not work or a buoy can be off station but that is rare. Make sure you are using an up to date chart
@johnrainsman66509 ай бұрын
@@CitySailing Oh, I should mention, movie took place in either the 20's or 30's. And as a matter of fact, the yact's owner said "Charts are never up to date in this part of the pacific." Would you like a link to see the beginning of the movie, to further understand the chart context? I might have some more questions

What type of buoy/beacon would show this FI (4) 15s 28m 12m ?
@CitySailing6 ай бұрын
Flashing 4 every 15 seconds 28 m high above MHWS 12 Nautical Miles nominal visibility, it would probably be a lighthouse.
