A toxic combination of social media, reality TV and too much influence behind the media by just a few people SImon Cowell has hand a big hand in destryoing and derailing it. Music for this generation is 90% about creating something that will sell, or get someone their 15 minutes in front of a camera. Not to sound like my parents but honestly its a different world already. I grew up as a teenager in the 90's and im shocked at how musical creativity has gone so quickly downhill. Where are the CAST's, Oasis, Blurs, Roses, Nirvana's, Led Zeppelins, Radiohead's, Pink Floyd's, today ? Where? Truly an honest question, they don't exist not in any form, not even when taking myself out of my timewarp and putting on a pair of teenage ears, there's literally no one like those bands and others like them now, zero. I see teenagers walking round with Nirvana and Oasis T shirts on 25 years after those bands released their best albums, that says alot about the quality of the music back then but also critically about the quality of music now, and its f'ing dire in truth.

@@Lonewolf__666 Too much social media breeding narcissism, reality tv toxicity. Such a shame for them. I would hate to be growing up now.

I don't think record companies take risks any more. Same for films. It's the natural progression of capitalism. If making money is the only point, then risks are averted and creativity is stifled. This is why Liam Gallagher's new project is hugely funded and hyped to the detriment of a 1,000 new and much better bands. You might hope 51 year old Liam would get behind young bands and give them the support he had, but capitalism dictates he will cash in instead. Likewise Bono, Noel, Jagger, McCartney and all the rest.

About 1998, went to the Mean Fiddler with short, bleached blonde hair, an Oasis t-shirt, in a very good dancey mood. Had so much female attention that night, it was ridiculous. One of the best nights of my life.

I agree! I needed something to pick myself out of a dark hole I'm in at the moment and for some reason I started to look up some Cast on KZbin, I think it was because I heard a track of theirs on Greatest Hits Radio if I remember correctly. Next thing the KZbin rabbit hole brought me here. I briefly met John at Ciampino Airport, Rome back in 2008 when he asked me the directions to somewhere. After he went I realised who he was as he caught me unawares as I was waiting for my plane.
