Heavy rain, or as we in Solingen like to call it: A nice summer day!

I keep coming back for relaxation :). Fun fact: The bus driver announces the stops, as they do over here in Germany where the stops are named usually after the street names the stops are in, and at 2:50 he announces "Werwolf". Yes, that crossing is called (and always has been, it is the official name) Werwolf, were wolf. Don´t ask me why!

Da sieht man den Zerfall einer Stadt. Damals richtig belebt und schön, heute nur noch gefährlich und voller Döner Buden und Baber Shops. Schade das die Zeit vorbei ist. Schade das Politisch so viel falsch gemacht wurde!

Hey, nice video. It's pretty interesting to see how my hometown looked 24 years ago and before i was born. Lots of changes. :)

That sort of rain makes for a challenge when filming, happily my camcorder stayed dry - even if the rest of me wasn't.For some reason the traffic sounds louder on the wet roads - maybe its just the extra sound from the water in the puddles being spalshed about as the vehicles drive through them..

Hey, I was 10 when this was filmed and part of your trip was my every day route to school. Thank you so much for uploading, all the memories are coming back, I remember every sound and feeling and the thought of a cosy afternoon once I was home. What time of day was it filmed, particularly around Graf-Wilhelm-Platz? Because there are no children around, so I assume, sometime in the afternoon? You can never tell the time with our sort of rain, can you ;))?

Hello, thanks for watching. I am pleased that you liked the film. I was in Germany for a few days between Christmas and the New Year, when I would assume that the schools were closed. I do not remember the exact time that I was at Graf-Wilhelm-Platz but it was probably around the middle of the day, as my hotel was in Essen (so it took a few hours to travel to Solingen by train) and also the hours of daylight were very short.

Ah yes, the schools here are always closed between Christmas and the New Year :). Thank you for replying, such good memories. My grandmother passed quite young in 1993, so this video gives me the feeling back that I had when I was going home after school and she was still there (we all lived in the same house). It´s the bus sounds (they have newer ones now), the rain, the streets that have been changed since then, this is the last glimpse I can get of my daily way home when I was a kid.

@@Punki80 I can relate to everything you've said. Born in 1983 in Solingen this is my childhood with so much that has changed ever since. Good old times, good old Solingen... 😢

are trolley uses faster then diesel powered buses?

dennis trident william the electric trolleybuses have better acceleration which means that either more bus stops (ie: closer to each other) can be served in the same length of road and the same time schedule, or that fewer trolleybuses will be needed to maintain a set schedule / service frequency. For urban services the top speed is not relevant as the roads served are unlikely to have speed limits above 40mph / 60 km/h
