Civil War Artillery in the ground!!

This is a compilation of the last years worth of Civil War artillery shells and cannonball finds that I’ve had while using the Minelab manticore,  and my XP Deus 2  watch me dig some really deep artillery shells It was an incredible time for me.

Just love this stuff. I'm from Canada east coast and I had a distant relative who was in the Confederate artillery.. I find this AWESOME!

Awesome video Cliff! So many great finds! I dug a ball that looks just like your first dig on a site where I was digging militia and flat buttons and other relics about a month ago. I was so excited when I found it because I thought it was a cannonball but mine weighed 16 pounds and was solid, no fuse. I cannot find any information that would match mine with civil war era so now I’m doubting or wondering if it is a cannonball. Do you know of any cannonballs that were 16 pounders? If mine is a milling ball I’m gonna be disappointed.

It could be pre civil War like revolutionary I would google websites for size and weight to date it!! Thanks!!

@@dcmdetects I looked up some 16 pounders, British had some there early like revolutionary period I wouldn’t be disappointed check your diameter like I said with the weight you may be able to date it and your welcome thank you for watching I appreciate it!!

@@ReachingHistory I also found some late 1700s relics in that area. Part of a musket rifle and some flat buttons so that could make sense. Thanks my friend for the info!

Did the confederate artillery have any spherical rounds with fuses or did they have cannon balls with crude Borman fuse?

Yes definitely and even more different types of rounds!!

How effective were the airburst shrapnel cannonballs?

It was pretty effective a rain of pieces did allot of damage!!
