As news spreads about screenwriter and director Alex Garland's move from filmmaking, the cast of his latest (and last?), A24's Civil War, celebrate the auteur's unusual style. In this interview with Collider's Steve Weintraub, Kirsten Dunst (Melancholia) shares why she was surprised Garland was able to pull this one off, and why she wound up calling him to let him know how proud she was to be part of it. Joined by co-stars Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla) and Wagner Moura (Narcos), the trio share stories from set and reveal what they know about the future of Alex Garland.
Like his previous films, Ex Machina (2014) and Annihilation (2018), Civil War tackles topical issues. This time, audiences are racing through a war-torn U.S. on the road to the White House, where the controversial president's (Nick Offerman) life is at risk. The United States is experiencing a second Civil War, and journalists Lee (Dunst), Joel (Moura), and their protégé Jessie (Spaeny) are dedicated to getting an interview, no matter the stakes. Civil War also features performances by Stephen McKinley Henderson (Dune), Jesse Plemons (The Irishman), and Jefferson White (Yellowstone).
Check out the full interview in the video above, or in the transcript below, to find out why Dunst believed Civil War would be a "nightmare" to edit, the non-traditional way Garland shot, which scenes were most challenging, and what they know about Garland's future in Hollywood.

** NO SPOILERS ** Just got home from watching this. Saw ads for it this week, and thought it was some kinda "zombie" movie just by the poster. Then saw the trailer and the many red tomatoes on Rotten Tomato review site, and decided ok I have to see this. Shocked that all showings in IMAX in NYC were 75% filled (especially all the middle go seats). Then saw it... Wow...NOT what I expected (in a good way). Kept me on the edge of my seat. And the military action scenes, specifically the gun fights were intense. The sound effects reminded me of the 1994-5 bank robber movie "HEAT" starring Robert De Niro and Al Pacino. The bullet sounds in "Civil War" reminded me of the authentic sounds in HEAT. Very anxiety-filled scenes, and actor Jesse Plemons NATURALLY plays bad guys really GOOD! I was wondering why this would be in IMAX....now I know. I actually would see this again in IMAX. And yes, the reality of our current political climate is not good....could it lead to this outcome in the movie. I hardly doubt it....but it's not as far-fetched especially from what happened Jan 6.

Saw it twice already in IMAX at Lincoln. First time was more tense since I know what is coming the second time watching it. But I picked up a bit more details and dialogue I missed the first time. The sound and the bullets…! Intense!

Afternoon? Those are still pretty booked. I try to avoid crowds. I'm still waiting to see Dune 2 on IMAX before this movie took the spot. Even Godzilla x Kong did not get the IMAX treatment at Lincoln. For me, it is Lincoln IMAX, then DOLBY or PRIME. Then the fake IMAX or regular theaters depending if the type of movie needs big screen or good sounds. I got the AMC A List; else, I would try the 4DX more often.

“If by Latino you mean speakers of a Romance language, then yes Italians are Latinos. But so are the French, Portuguese, Romanians and so on. If, however, by Latino you mean Hispanic, or better a Spanish speaker coming from the American continent then no, Italians are not Latinos”
@rogeriopenna9014
@rogeriopenna9014 Ай бұрын
@@q-zhiphop5346 the only Latinos are people from LATIUM region in Italy. All others are Latin AMERICANS or Latin EUROPEANS, including all Italians from outside Lazio. Latino is not the same thing as Latin American. Stop removing the word AMERICAN from the term Latin American, since the term denotes connection to the part of America where romance languages are spoken as main languages.

I wasn't disagreeing with you. I was stating a fact. Truth of the matter is there are multiple ways someone can use the term Latino without having American attached. Who’s to say he doesn’t have ancestry from that region? Idk, take it up with the Census bureau, I don’t make up the rules.
