I think a common theme along the movie is powerlessness. Average citizens are seen as somewhat powerless to what is going on. It's a juxtaposition to the sometimes fervent supporters of revolution or civil war. They all think they will be the main characters in their story, but they often will be left behind. Meant to be workers in a small town, dudes at a gas station, those looters. And even if they did fight, there may be a high chance they get killed and their story cut short. Especially considering how the President is described as willing to air strike citizens.

i agree that it was smart of them not to delve too deeply into the political machinations of this. no matter how well they try to write that, it will always fall short; and it won't actually add it anything considering the story they wanted to tell, focusing on the war journalists. people are just criticising that because it's set in the US; had it been set in central africa, no one would give a shit.

LOVED THE SCENE WHERE : In the middle of a shooting War ........ The Girls take time out to try on a dress and do some shopping ! EVERY CHAUVINIST IN THE THEATER WAS LAUGHING THEIR AZZ OFF !!!

To bad it's journalism movie not a civil war movie

Not once even when watching the trailer did I think it was gonna be a "civil war movie" (a movie about military battles) it was obvious that it would be about survivors and their experiences throughout the war (the journalist). Having a movie about military battles would make it to where you would have to depict the movie through one side and that would kind of ruin the whole anti war meaning behind the movie. While this is not impossible ie. "All Quiet On The Western Front" it does make it more difficult to depict. I think the concept of having the movie seen through the eyes and experiences of the journalist a.k.a "regular people" is a great idea and I praise the writers for choosing this decision.

@@jonathanflores357 And the main characters realization that Americans will not react to a foreign war enough to not root for something like that. All quiet on the western front is like the pictures she describes taking. Something people obviously find horrifying, but it's a foreign country, in a distant time, I'll just move on after watching it. So the movie is kind of meant to represent how the war shocked Americans. When it finally came to home. Some people say "Well some wars are justified, the president was a tyrannical evil leader." Yes, but it's not something you root for like a sports team. It's meant to be a literal last resort in which no one really wins, but just barely. You're essentially back to square 0 or worse once you remove the evil leader, because as they describe even now the factions are feuding. And along the way many innocents lives were destroyed.

if you are a worthless little no talent failure of a director/producer - make a movie SO BAD people think it is something it is not - Like Mel Brooks in "The Producers" where this long failure of a no talent Broadway Producer creates a play SO BAD (It a puff piece about Hitler and good old days of Nazidom in the 1930/40s) he's sure after only one show - it will be a flop and he will keep all the money he raised off nice old ladies. However, the opposite happens and he ends with a Broadway Hit and long prison sentence for fraud.
