As an American, I find this trailer incredibly unnerving and triggering. 10 years ago, I would have thought the mere idea of it was silly and over the top, but……not today…..😢❤

mainly only movies of cool british spies infiltrating fascist regimes or the battle of britain or us having our revolution against the tyrants of the 18th century in britain man like what are you on about? the world just is foaming at the mouth waiting for america to fall. even our allies that we saved from becoming german speaking people 75 years ago and under the murderous rule of the empire of japan. Just remember the beloved Churchill begged us to come into the war. he appreciated us.. other brits? i think theyre just mad we broke off from them and became much much more powerful than they ever were @@LordLOC

Wow… 😮 the idea of this really happening is so close to home. The fall of America and it’s empire would mean world war 3 and a worldwide collapse. I personally feel it’s already started in a gradual kind of way. As a British person looking at America from the outside and living in the U.K. that shares many similar political issues with the US, I can see the cracks in American society becoming wider and potentially deteriorating in the way this trailer suggests. I hope the movie does this justice, it’s a big topic to deal with in a movie format.

Sadly it’s come to this for us here my friend, and as much as that pains me to see us this divided I don’t see this getting any better in our election year. Saying that I would fight for my Home State of California if a tyrant ever took office . Wish us luck. 🏴 🫱🏽🫲🏾 🇺🇸

I've heard it said that this movie will normalize us killing each other. I sure hope not. I'm hoping it warms us all and helps us to unify for good not evil.

The movie touches on a theme, but the thing most like to normalize indifference to entire populations dying out is climate change. Checkout "The Ministry for the Future",a book by Kim Stanley Robinson.

We no longer agree on what is good and evil anymore. You can ask one American about a subject of if it is good or evil then ask another American and today you can expect different answers if they live more than 10 miles apart. When that isn't cohesive in a nation, civil war becomes inevitable. In all reality, it's a miracle the United States hasn't gone into such a war sooner. But the last 8 years of rapidly growing and deepening division is now irreversible and makes this inevitable.

I think the reactions to this movie are just as interesting as the concept and content of the movie. It's quite strange seeing Americans getting so hung-up on the idea of California and Texas forming a military alliance. That might be a good example of just how unimaginative so many Americans are, how insular and myopic they've become. I think that's one of the most plausible things about it. Both Texas and California are in the top three for military power in the US. They're among the top three economies in the US, too. Under a civil war scenario it's also plausible that one or both would be under a military leadership instead of political. The imagined political leanings of the majority of citizens in either state is entirely irrelevant under this scenario but most Americans viewing this trailer seem intellectually unable to consider it.

I was interested to see reactions and commentary from foreign reviewers myself. I see at least one other American in the comments echoing a sentiment that a lot of us are a bit fearful of. Whether you be conservative, moderate, or more liberal, there's a very real underlying unease across the entire nation. I am a moderate and I can have conversations with either very conservative or very liberal friends and I can't say that I've seen this much tension, nervousness, and sometimes outright animosity as I have in a very long time. You can listen to many leaders or scholars who may say that Trump could never be re-elected, but there's a very real sense that isn't guaranteed. Also, I am not even sure all of the damage would come from Trump himself regardless of the outcome of the 2024 election. There are some extreme elements nowadays who are likely to respond in some form or fashion just in general to whatever undesirable outcome they feel. This goes for both extremes (although we can certainly anticipate the far right-wing, more fascist/nationalist may have the potentially more violent reactions). Nonetheless, if the United States Supreme Court does not affirm the Constitution disqualifying Trump, I think that speaks to a very deep problem within every branch of our government. The judicial branch is supposed to be minimally partisan and base its judgments on interpretation of established laws. I am not confident in that today. I see a lot of forces coalescing around an establishment of a more authoritarian reimagination of our nation. See Project 2025 for an example. Unfortunately, I believe Biden has proven himself to be more akin to a Jimmy Carter than a Barack Obama and may not have a lot of intrinsic strength to defeat Trump on the ballot. People are very short-sighted and seemingly perfectly apt to ignore the very real threats posed by power-hungry players who actually have little interest in serving the American people for an overall good than they do dealing with a President they simply have some disagreements or frustrations with, even though the assumed alternative is a very dangerous one.
