B- Cnemascore isn't surprising considering A24 marketed it as "White House Down" when it is a much slower, almost meditative but utterly terrifying art-house horror.
@cheechenc7260

i dont think the movie is very slow at all. we barely got any of the road trip moments and every 10 minutes it switched to a different scene. christmas sniper, car jumping, jesse plemons, gas station, stadium camp, building shootout. i felt the movie was actually teetering on being exhausting with all these sequences back to back to back

Civil War was so well shot. Any moving frame could've been a still photograph itself. I really enjoyed its somewhat misleading marketing. That European-directed distance from the 'why' of the war gave it a haunting similarity to some of the great American-made war films taking place overseas. The photojournalist angle was both inspiring and terrifying. All the cast gave great performances, too. Dunst looked like she hadn't slept in decades and in just a few scenes Nick Offerman really brought it. Jesse Plemons, of course, was great. The tension throughout this film was awesome. Hope more people contribute to its Box Office. Worth it.

I still can't believe the 2016 Ghostbusters is the second best critically reviewed film of the franchise behind the original.
@lennynero635
@lennynero635 Ай бұрын
That really is crazy. I haven‘t read all the reviews for 2016 Ghostbusters but I assume there was a lot of good will on the side of the critics. Ghostbusters 2 (which I personally like a lot) is not too far behind with a 56 score on metacritic. However, as with most movies from this time far fewer reviews are factored in which might skew the rating. The user score for both movies tells a different stroy: Ghostbusters 2 sits at a 7.0 rating compared to a measly 2.7 for the 2016 installment.

Well played on the Wrestling List :) Interesting that Screen Engine/Comscore's PostTrak polled Civil War's attendees' political leanings & despite the movie being so deliberately non-partisan, it still didn't have Conservatives flocking to go see it! It had a very well utilised $50m production budget & $20m+ marketing budget, but all its audience score metrics like most of Alex Garland's movies aren't overly impressive with Ex Machina being the only one of the 4 movies he's both written & directed that both critics & audiences have loved! Its B- CinemaScore, 76% RT (3.9/5), 76% PostTrak, 6.3/10 Metacritic & 7.6/10 IMDB audience ratings are solid but not great overall in terms of its box office legs beyond its very good $25.7m Opening Wkend.

A line from the movie Civil War that I think epitomizes how it knew how people would react was the mention of “The Antifa massacre”. It gives no mention if antifa was the attacker, the victim, or a falsely labeled attacker or victim. But the people next to me definitely had immediate reactions to hearing the word “antifa”. It was an amazing anti war movie that shows a lot of the audience’s inability to discuss war without trying to find a moral high ground on either side. That said, the marketing wasn’t super honest to the tone of the movie. If I’m not mistaken, the Title Card changed the color of the font to the politically neutral Green in later trailers when I think it mighta been red before. But I could be mistaken.
