It belongs to phylum coelentrata and Corals aren't known as polyp. Polyp are just a kind of coelentrate which is sessile i.e. It can't freely move. They have deposition of CaCO3.

Video was very informative 👌👌👌 I have a little confusion.. About atoll.. From where does the atoll get its base in the mid of the ocean to grow... Does it grow on the ridge or something? ... Coz reef cannot grow after 180 feet depth... And average depth of ocean is 3.7 km.. Or does it float in the ocean Fringing and barrier reef have continent self as there base.... But what about about atoll...?

Sir, in NCERT book, it is mentioned that fringing reef grows from the deep sea bottom. What is deep sea bottom here? Because shallow water is on of the essential condition for growth of coral reef.
