Here, have my support. I've been subscribed for almost 3 years now and after all those Civilization V games, I'm still not done watching them. You actually make them very enjoyable with your commentary and Marbozirisms ("That would be a poor life choice" and "Oh, dammit, that's not what I wanted to do.") Not to mention the strategic mind behind all of this. I have yet to see you fail because of your own actions and decisions. You play an A-game every game. Don't stop the things you love because of some (very) inconsiderate comments. (Yes, the XCOM Let's Play in particular)

Marb this was a really engrossing gameplay. There were some minor mistakes throughout (delay working stone at capital, delay buying Sri Pada, unaccompanied settler). do you find its ever worth it to buy a tile very very early on with ruin+city state gold? i was just thinking about how the earlier you have an advantage, the more of an impact it has over the course of the game. so for instance, on turn 4 here you got a +75 gold ruin. maybe its worth it to buy that stone tile ASAP? its something i never do but maybe its worth it some times
@japphan10 жыл бұрын
Really like that you are changing your standard policy progression to play this specific civ. Will you prioritise city states differently this game? It seems every type of city state is very useful for Siam, so maybe it's worth bribing cultured ones over militaristic for example.

Where are all the city states? Bummer that Geneva is the only one close, considering Siam's UA. I have never played with Siam, but it seems that you could have a HUGE capital with a few allied maritime city states and the requisite happiness. With that in mind, once you have astronomy getting some caravels out to meet them, makes sense. You might even get 2 triremes and send them in opposite directions, if you can get OB with US and Rome. I think maritime CS's are always coastal. Great work, looking forward to this LP.

@AxisandAllies4210 жыл бұрын
I think Maddjinn's game as Venice proves Venice (especially domination Venice) can be fun.
@piousmuffin528510 жыл бұрын
SimplySimple There's not much to overcome about that. The sheer number of money you can get more than makes up for that. Not to mention that national wonders will be super easy and fast to build and policies cost less. Then there's the fact that puppeting city states as Venice or Austria on deity gives massive bonuses, ranging from buildings that you might not even be able to build yet to instant 20+ unit armies, not to mention you might be able to grab a really good natural wonder while at it. I'd say that the only downsides Venice has are loss of science due to not being able to optimize specialists, not being able to settle potentially great city spots, thus leaving you at the whims of the AI's lack of logic when choosing city spots if you intend to conquer that spot from them later, and not being able to make your puppet cities contribute to World Congress projects. Considering that diplomatic and domination are the primary victory types for Venice, most of the above isn't really a huge issue. Not having the most modern military can hurt, but Venice is more of a "We'll drown you in carpets of doom" kind of a civilization anyway, as opposed to the typical "I'll take over the world with 10 rocket artillery and a couple of paratroopers/XCOM squads, and the occasional nuke" Marbozir style".

Great part, but I have one question: You passed a road from Sweden that was not in their border, why didn't you pillage it? Would yield a bit of gold you normally wouldn't recieve and it would slow the AI down a bit.
@marekbrytan272510 жыл бұрын
why did you not settle in place/next to the river and a mountain since you would have gotten cattle, and an extra copy of copper to work early on. You also already have a coastal city which you can use for trade? Just a little question

You could take the free worker (and faster tile improvement speed) before Legalism. That would allow you to build more amphitheaters. Delaying Landed Elite would not be too bad IF you expand to more cities first; however, you are surrounded by very aggressive AI so that would also require a much larger military - probably not a good idea. BTW - Rome looks like it is going to be your biggest worry. They have room to expand and are uncontested. They are likely plotting their attack already. I would be very scared of their UU's showing up on your doorstep in the next 20-30 turns.

In the beginning, Ramkhamhaeng formed the Siamese empire and started his exploration around the world. During that time, Ramkhamhaeng found new civilizations different from his own and made trading agreements with them. However, Ramkhamhaeng became paranoid of the Huns, which lead to the first Siamese-Hunic war. Though the Siamese lost their first battle against the Huns, the war eventually stopped and both become friends. Although, Ramkhamhaeng still fears for the day that the Huns will backstab them. Centuries passed and after creating 2 new cities, Ramkhamhaeng found a new enemy, Morocco. Siam took the defensive position and successfully defended the workers against the Saharan warriors. End of chapter 1
