How is the difficulty rise up? Does the ai improve or just get more bonus?

the thought of having caesar lead the egyptians or mongols feels wrong to me... idk who came up with the idea of historical iconic leaders that can be matched with any civ but not a big fan

I feel for console players cause I don’t much like the dark themed UI either. If you can get this game on PC I highly recommend i, its going to have mod support and I’m sure it won’t be long until we have a variety of options of UI mods to fit our tastes better.

That last minute was crazy! xD Yeah, I did enjoy watching some of the new mechanics, but the civ-switching one is still bothering me. That and with the agressive monetization that will happen makes me want to wait for a bundle and a discount further down the road.

Some of the new mechanics looked quite interesting but some of the others seem not so great. Not being able to swap what "citizens" are working on depending on whats currently needed seems like a step away from early game specialization but also would remove tedium in the late game. Also when the age progresses why do cities other than the capitol revert? I'll have to see more information on that but it seems like youll spend time building something up just for it to be taken back down which doesn't seem fun. The general/ soldier mechanic looks awesome and last I despise the new leader screen.

Commenting with the video paused at the start, but my hype for this game is close to 0. I know you are a honest reviewer, and even though you can't share your thoughts yet, I know that what you'll show is an unbiased view, and that's the best thing the fans in the community can get.

Just a few thoughts...I would like to see them re-release Civ 5 with navigable rivers (and lakes), put fish or other food resources in lakes, updated combat and units, and multiple leader choices to play as a civ perhaps each with a unique bonus (for instance Washington, Lincoln, Roosevelt for America all with some small difference like +2 food per city with Washington, bonus to diplomacy with Lincoln, some kind of military bonus for Roosevelt, etc.) Keep the same Civ the entire game, but maybe allow the occasional leader swap within that specific Civ's leader pool. Give every Civ at least 1 unique building and unit, perhaps even the "third and 4th unique component" like the mod or whatever it was called. Maybe make some changes to tech tree or culture policies. I do like how Pangaea is no longer a thing in Civ 7. Everyone played that map and I find it very boring, as part of civ to me was always exploration. Remove the science benefit from just making contact with other civs that have a technology that you do not. Create a nomad Civ where you can move your capital at the beginning of each era. Get rid of the scaling pantheon mechanic, make all pantheons cost the same amount of faith to found. Also get rid of the "chance for great prophet" and make it automatically spawn when you generate the faith threshold. Make it easier to stop AI from spamming their crappy religions on your cities. Take away some of the penalty from settling too many cities. Remove all barbarian units and encampments from the game once you reach the Industrial era. Allow for more land and exploration. Add new Civs. It's not just the game play, Civ 5 is the most visually appealing of the entire series. Oh, and take away the mountain requirement for having an observatory, or at least make it so mountain only has to be within 3 tiles of city tile. So many more things that could be done, but these would be a good start.

I pointed this out when I saw the initial trailers and the developers talking about the game where they said "we spent a lot of time getting the languages right because we're really focused on historical accuracy." At the same time, having Augustus of the Incas, Elizabeth of the Japanese and Tokugawa of the Maori is extermely historically accurate. I wish I could be like Thomas and say I've never seen such bullshit before but alas. Don't give the reason of historical accuracy when one of the core mechanics of the game makes it utterly and unavoidably ahistorical.
@davidsprenkle2641
@davidsprenkle2641 17 сағат бұрын
So in early Civs I could play the U.S. (and Russia, Germany, etc., etc.) from 4000 BC on--which is ridiculously ahistorical. And I had a immortal leader who lived for 6000 years. So these sort of "core mechanics" have ALWAYS been "ahistorical." Somehow, past generations of Civ enthusiasts managed to survive such monstrosities. I suspect you will too, should you choose to play Civ 7 :)
@DeludedOne
@DeludedOne 16 сағат бұрын
@davidsprenkle2641 It's not me who is saying that they are focusing on historical accuracy, it's the developers of Civ 7. They've certainly done a great job of that.

@davidsprenkle2641 16 сағат бұрын
@ They're trying to be "historically accurate" in some ways relating to game flavor, but also trying to construct a playable game. And this is the way Civ has ALWAYS been. A fun game which might teach you a bit along the way (I've lost track of how many Jeopardy! questions I've gotten right because of stuff I've learned from Civ), So for you to call this "bullshit" kinda got my attention--especially since what seemed to be ticking you off in particular was the leader/civ dichotomy. I'm thinking you're WAY overreacting to something trivial. (But here I am, overreacting to something trivial--your opinions--so pot meet kettle, I guess).

I'm simply uninterested in the game so long as my civ switches and my leader stays, rather than the opposite. They had a really cool opportunity to give us so many new leaders with the inclusion of people who didn't quote-unquote lead a country, but I feel they didn't make the best use of it.

I'm getting a lot of Millennia vibes and that's not really a good thing. Also, the leader screens IMO are a downgrade from Civ VI which was itself a downgrade from Civ V. Civ V will be 15 years old later this year.

Two questions, that I think you can answer: first, is did you have full access? Did you get to play all the way through to the modern age? Second, is did your play-through answer any misgivings you had about some of the design choices? You don’t have to give specifics, so you don’t get in trouble, I’m just wondering if the extended play through answered questions.
