Byzantine is a religiously aggressive civ - since she doesn't have her own she's spreading yours to Austria for you.

Unique Ability. Byzantine get one extra thing for the religion they found. But if they don't found one...

With 22 civs - other people may have beaten her to it. Byzantine actually doesn't get a whole lot of faith bonuses early (unlike, say, the Celts who get bonus faith from forests or ... Brazil? Or whatever civ it is gets faith from their monuments) Vs 22 civs it's actually really hard for byzantine to get their religion out the door first.

Yes. But it's pretty hard for them even in normal games because, as you said, they don't get any faith bonuses at all. Ethiopia gets faith from their monuments. Maya gets twice as much faith from their overpowered shrines.

- You're doing really well with that garbage start - Your best bet is probably using all those gold tiles for Patronage/Commerce (dumping Gold into city states) - You should get Workshops and Ironworks up as quick as possible - Prioritize killing enemy ranged units because melee units take a lot of damage when attacking your city but ranged units can pewpew forever goQuillgo!

You should make holy sites on top of the horses. would still keep the horses production would decrease a bit, but you'd create a super tile

Never mind on my comment on the previous video about that Graeco - roman alliance. They can be a very good buffer zone. Pity that their settlements are north instead of south.

Always build walls in cities near aggressive civs, they help so much. It needs to be a very high priority because a city with a granary and library does you no good at all if it's in another player's hands.

Should've left that 1hp Impi in front of Kampala live. He'd have to suicide into your city or (more likely) sit there and wait. Limits the enemy into only attacking w/ one unit per turn, and gives you the freedom to fire at juicy targets without worrying about your city's health.

Quill love the content however I believe you over extended yourself by settling spicy banana and would be much be much better off holding the Zulu at lake Vicky and make that your border, your position in the northern corner of Africa makes it ideal to play defensively and spread across the north coast of Africa

I've had some bad luck trying this same map and as Egypt as well. I don't have Shaka but I did get Songhai, Morocco, Ethiopia, Carthage, Portugal, Rome, Arabia, Byzantine, and Assyria. Plenty of the southern Africa to explore but the worst part of the game is the Shoshone are in the Americas all by himself.........................

Whenever i try to play this map i always get graphical glitches and becomes unplayable after a point. not sure why. just be aware might not work. also there are a couple of these out there.

he took the religion that gives him 1 happiness for ever 2 cities that have it plus happiness from shrines i think. plus he has a ton of luxs and pagodas

Ceremonial Burial Belief. Because no one around him has made a religion and has spread it everywhere it's really easy for him. Also he has pagodas and a wide variety of luxury resources. Only settle new cities next to a new luxury you don't own.

Again you waste the holy site. You dont have enough population to work all the tiles in the capital so just add the prophet on the horses

And placing it on some random tile that never gets worked wastes 7 faith/2f. Placing academies/HS on strategics is actually a very strong strategy because you get a super tile and an extra free pop that can work something else or a specialist slot.
