I went to war with Brazil at one point, and I had Rocket artillery and mechanized infantry. At one point during the war, he was trying to fight me with archers. *ARCHERS.* The weirdest thing was that I had seen Brazil with more advanced ranged units like Crossbowman before, so I don’t know what he was doing or where he got those archers, let alone why he was using them against my nuclear arsenal.

Why don't you spell it like you say it? Damn Eastern European languages are so confusing.
@chrizzie13 жыл бұрын
@@RobertMcBride-is-cool Different languages use the same letters to represent different sounds, so just because a spelling doesn't match up with how an English speaker would sound-out a word, doesn't mean it isn't phoenetic within the language the word comes from. It's one of the interesting consequences of how the Roman empire spread the Latin alphabet across Europe (in addition to later spread by other nations) and then speakers of different languages modded it to suit their own languages, since different languages use different sets of sounds, so it couldn't be applied directly. Welcome to linguistics, and I agree ,it is confusing, but there's a reason for it.
@RobertMcBride-is-cool2 жыл бұрын
@Nick Paul I know that. I wasn’t even trying to “sound smart”. To my knowledge, the alphabet was introduced to Europeans when the Roman Empire was everywhere. They kept using it, but I guess linguistic drift does some weird stuff. Sort of like how the Japanese were given the Chinese alphabet and the kanji aren’t pronounced the same most of the time. By the way, that was me trying to sound smart. I think I did a decent job.
@evanrudibaugh87722 жыл бұрын
@@RobertMcBride-is-cool You're missing a fun part about Eastern European languages: Poland and Hungary are historically great friends. Sz in Hungarian is pronounced like English s. S in Hungarian is pronounced like English sh. S in Polish is pronounced like English s. Sz in Polish is pronounced like English sh. So, it's the complete reverse. Random add on: Polish is Slavic, of course, while Hungarian is non-Indo-European and is distantly related to Finish and Estonian.
