I am a retired meteorologist, and taught severe weather analysis and forecasting for many years. A "Squall" is a sudden doubling of the winds, exceeding 25 knots. This is produced by the outrushing/downrushing air from a mature thunderstorm. Here in the central part of the US, winds of up to 80 miles an hour, associated with severe convective storms are common. I have seen MANY tornadoes, and squall lines. The development of a LINE of storms are normally associated with a cold front, where cold, dense air forces warmer, more unstable air aloft, rapidly.

17:15 I think the small rivers need to be settled on top of to give you fresh water, but navigable rivers, oasis and lakes still give it to adjacent tiles (i guess because its a big enough body of water that it reaches the edge of the tile its on). Also Ben Franklin being hyper aggressive wouldn’t surprise me because Australia always rushes me in civ 6, for some reason.
@MegaHuntress10 күн бұрын
28:10 Im 90% sure the reason Ben Franklin is hyper-aggressive is that he loves science too much. Hear me out, His leadership disposition is to dislike other people who are not the same government / Celebration type. He probably always picks the science / military option which most people avoid, which makes him mad at you. Most people pick food/production for buildings or cultures/production for wonder celebrations. (un)surprisingly, this also incentivises him to build soldiers during celebrations and have larger armies. 22:53 And what do you do when you have a larger army than the neighbour who disrespects you by killing your independent people?

Lotty jumpscare! 38:43 “unpack army” (is this a new feature?) 53:37 City-States being removed from the map if their suzerain is defeated is an odd mechanic…. Mmm, I feel like changing into a new Civ would make more sense if it was determined by the geography of the land you’ve discovered/settled🗺️; seeing majority desert should force you to pick desert Civs or jungle with jungle Civs. (making scouts paramount for the best options early game, thus making them more useful!) Overall, love the preview Clio! I wouldn’t mind seeing one or two more videos about the game!👍🏾

It's so beautiful you are also an history professor, I hope to listen to some historical contents when proper (I always wandered if them could help for a strategy in the game). The antropological soul of Civilization is what makes it the game I love. I advice you, if its possibile, to plan the cities development on the map with pings (or just tell it thoughout the run) in order to keep track of your intentions because I don't manage to "read the map" as well as in civ 6. Personally, you are welcome in the community!

Thanks for this descriptive style of video. Cheers.

In modern language, it's very low tone, but for the time, talking to the presumed ruler of his homeland, this was badass. Just a note, since you can only pick one Golden Age if you wanted to take Silk Roads you would've been locked out of the cultural golden age anyway, even if you had Amphitheaters everywhere. You still get the extra points that you can allocate for that of course, but there's only one Golden Age per era transition as I understand it.

Points earned on legacy paths throughout the game apparently help with the final victory condition at the end of the third age. They might be a bonus to production of the final great project or something, I have no idea. I don't recall them going in much detail on the live stream but then I might have missed it.

My approach to the early game is that the potential rewards from goodie huts are much more valuable than the early 300 gold - getting more population (especially with wonder bias), science, culture, happiness, has more impact than spending 220 gold for the granary, or getting a hoplite - money not spent is resources not used!

Asking the expert here: I wonder if there might be a hidden pro-play in switching capital at age change. It looks to me that Athens had become pretty yield-oriented with the double natural wonder and also Petra tile yields. It would be a pity to overbuild these. Plus, the city is landlocked, which might be a huge disadvantage in the exploration concept needing ships and all. I wonder if making this city a specialized town would have provided an insane yield bonus to fast develop a new city like Ji, which is actually a coastal town suited for exploration age activities. I would love to hear your thoughts on this.

The narrative choices seem a bit unbalanced to me from time to time. You get to chose between 2 turns of production or 3 turns of culture on one side versus 10+ turns of happiness. And nobody (barely) ever takes the happiness in all the previews I've seen, which looks a bit bonkers from the outside as having more policy card slots appears to be potentially quite strong.

I've watched a few videos (they have all been really well done, including this one) and I'm concerned the AI is kind of just making random choices and not really "playing" - an issue with Civ V and Civ VI. I guess most people don't seem to mind this, but coming off Age of Wonders 4 which has a wonderful AI this is a bummer and I hope it's just a poor showing randomly and/or addressed by some tweaks on the day 1 patch.
