Imagine riding from Berlin to Entremont or Alesia on a long train ride, some city with a foreign name which belonged to a forgotten ancient kingdom conquered a thousand years ago. Your unit is the latest in technology, maybe you're a rifleman with the latest uniforms; but along with you are pikemen and maybe a retinue of swordsmen, units you find strange, but hey, they're veterans and have fought countless victories before. After the war, maybe you'll visit Hamburg and check out the markets, or see the huge modern ships near the harbor. They say the war is for gems, but at the Oracle, your leaders were told Ghandi is not to be trusted. He's double-crossed people before.

@candyman8515 жыл бұрын
@C T As much as I love Civ 5 for how well balanced and complex its gameplay feels (with the expansions), Civ 3 is undoubtedly the best at actually making you feel great about building your empire. You don't need to go to war or spread a religion or any of that crap to have fun in Civ 3, simply building up your cities and watching the beautiful hand-drawn overview dynamically fill with buildings and wonders is fun enough on its own. Seriously, why did they remove the city overview in future games? Best feature in the series imo. Civ 3 also probably had the best Civilopedia. There have been a few studies saying that playing Civ 3 helped young children understand history better, or at least take an interest in it. Seriously, this game was super stylish for its time. No other game was that concerned about including pages and pages of lore and history in 2001.

And for anyone else reading, the whole point of gamespy is it gives you some actual information. If you just log onto multiplayer it's blank you dont know who is there and who isnt. On gamespy you get a whole list of everyone whos there and many times people are inside a game playing already and they won't respond Takes patience and gamespy. Without gamespy youre just assuming no one playing because you have no real information about anything. CIV3 has had the same people playing on it for years
