Have been playing some civ 6 lately, was thinking music is ok but could be better. So I remembered how the transition to the modern age in civ 3 changed the mood of the game with lovely jazz-bluesy kind of music. This piece in particular was even better than i remembered. It really seems to capture so much of the mood of modern civilization; the wealth and comfort; the abundance of human triumphs; the novelty. But also a bit of disorientation and ennui from having reached a plateau -- now with all this wealth and all the technology we need, what's the path forward from here?

Civ 3 has a good balance in it's modern era themes, it has positive music, jolly, pessimistic etc. compared to civ 4 where most of them are prettt pessimistic or nihilistic

Played Civ 3 since I was a child, and I decided to learn this piece when I went to college for music many years later. Love this version of the piece so much! I think the musicality of the piece really comes out when taken at this slower tempo.

I never played Civ III, but this song is a banger! And they did add it into Civ IV iirc.
