@Turtu Murtu is correct. I played Prince twice. Effortless. King once. Effortless. Emperor. Restarted first try after like 60 turns after discovering oh, they will actually attack you now if you don't have an Army. Beat that, then beat Emperor again. Beat Immortal. Lost Deity first try to a religious victory when I was otherwise dominating all other win conditions. On my second deity try and after 200 turns am ahead in everything except behind the space race altho I generate much more Science per turn. I admit I rerolled my start once and spawned next to the Fountain of Youth by chance and ofc took that start. I rerolled a few other starts too bc if you're gonna sink 60hrs into the game it's nice to have the warm fuzzy of a decent start at least. But Turtu is right, the AI starts off ahead on paper but before industrial starts, gets lost in the sauce and plays aimlessly. Even on Deity. They do program in a Science win trajectory it'll go for when it can tho. And yeah, snowball is the same on all trajectories. It may take you 120-180 turns to surpass the AI on Deity tho. You have to go harder on defense early on Deity tho. If you can take an early neighbor out early it seems pretty hard to lose afterward. Do you really enjoy effortless wins on Emperor and below? I enjoyed the game most finally losing on Deity and seeing how a few different decisions or more knowledge and I'd have probably won.

@@ClarkPotter yeah exactly i was struggling with emperor then i started out doing deity failed a couple of times duo to various early game reasons. Then after my first lucky victory i never lost after. Literally i won my first then i never lost in 40-50 games.

My last snowball with Ottomans made me realise it's about time I moved to the ultimate challenge - the deity difficulty.

As somebody with over 1300 hours in civ 6, I am literally still finding things out about this game every time I play which is insane to me. It takes about as much time as learning a language.

I've played this game for over 5 years and I still can't get past Emperor level. I guess I'm just a casual player that just wants to build a peaceful empire but always gets attacked by my neighbor because _of course they do_

AI in this game seems to be always following same patterns, so yeah, that can be annoying

That was great. Proud 14th sub to your channel. I'm on my eighth run of Civ 6, second try on Deity bc every earlier level was effortless altho I did restart my second Emperor try when I realized oh, they will actually attack you if you don't have an army on this level. I was set to win my first Deity try, but neglected religion like they tell you to, and lost to a distant neighbor going apeshit with Eastern Orthodox and nothing I could do about. I also didn't notice until it was too late that if you're at war with someone, you CAN attack their missionaries. I really want to just beat Deity once and be done with this game. I always feel like I can play it better NEXT game tho. Plus you always learn something new that's significant each game and want to actually employ that knowledge on your next game. Nerd crack. "Almost certain this game is more challenging than running an actual country." Yup. Feel ya.

But what if I were to create modifications so I could play the game forever? Ho ho, delightfully devilish Strudeler.

My brother in Christ the “previous iterations” weren’t all realistic it was just 5. Civ 4 and the ones before it were just as cartoony but people complain about this one cause they’ve only played 5.

yeah 5 was the only one to really stand out in the artstyle department. it also chopped out a feature that was in all previous games, climate change. And some people actually complained when it was added into 6, having only ever played civ 5.

This is so true. But Prince is the most fair and balanced game difficulty hands down. The advanced difficulties whilst manageable are just not fun, tedious and annoying more than anything. On turn 1 the AI literally starts with 2-3 free settlers and 200% production and is still completely unchanged idiotic behaviour. Prince is 5/5 top tier high difficulties should only have better behaviours not stupid bonuses.

The onlu sad part is how bad the AI is. You just win easily. Its no fun. Where is the challenge? Its not like this game works for multiplayer so the AI is the only challenge you got😊

I wouldn’t say that. 6 reintroduced the “snowball by the lategame with no real challenges” problem and a lot of it is either really convoluted (compare Greece’s simple, one-line bonuses to the Māori’s) or just outright bad (i.e. World Congress), sometimes even both (i.e. tourism). Even the areas it definitely improved on aren’t without fault (i.e. districts take up too much space and are too numerous, meaning buildings that should be a staple in most large modern cities like Factories are limited to only one or two specialized ones). 5 may have less flexibility, but it’s a much more streamlined game with a smaller learning curve. *EDIT:* Modding is also MUCH easier and versatile in 5 than 6 for several reasons, which is ironic considering 6 was supposedly built with modding in mind. It’s kinda ridiculous how wonky it is actually, and while 5 still gets better mods than 6 right now.
