I love playing Victoria on islands or tsl earth. My usual strategy is to find some land on a Continent that hasn't been settled and settle a city. After settling, I use Reyna's ability to purchase a royal navy dockyard, getting a second redcoat, and then making a corps.

The automatic theming for Victoria works differently. After digging up 6 artifacts for one city, the museum is automatically themed NO MATTER WHERE THE ARTIFACTS COME FROM. That means you *instantly get 36 culture and 36 tourism FROM ONE MUSEUM.* Normally you'd have to have artifacts from different civilizations from the same era in one museum to get a theme (This is challenging but doable with 3 artifacts and many different artifacts). England gets 6 artifacts in one museum, so that would mean you need 6 different civilizations which would be nearly impossible. Once you rush for the artifacts with victoria, you can get 100 TOURISM from 3 museums! (400 tourism with policy card and Computers-tech. )

Actually, Pax Britannica works better on pangea maps because you can settle in another continent sooner and you can go for early domination. And Royal Navy Dockyards have a very good synergy with Free Inquiry dedication in golden/heroic age (gold adjacency provides science). If you take the Naval Infrastructure policy cards (with Naval tradition, 100% adjacency bonus for harbors) as well, governor Reyna, you can have a lot of science without building campus. Hic sunt dracones dedication can be really good for them later, too. England civ is weird: nothing really bad, and it looks that nothing is really good, but actually, it's a very efficient civ (lot of trade routes, gold, science, military...) for domination or culture. Just rush RND instead of campus/religion and explore a lot/fight barbarians camps/conquer citys to get golden age.

I was just gonna comment if you spawn on a continent break then its VERY useful because all your next cities aside from the capital can easily be on another continent and your Redcoats will be extra strong

As a ps4 player of civ 6, I love all these videos dude. I've only been playing the game for like 10 months or something but I love it sooo much and you've helped me in my love for the game. I loved sid meirs pirates way back when, and when I saw civilisation revolution on the ps3 I kept meaning to buy it but never did. Purchasing civ 6 and playing the fuck out of it has not been a regret of mine. Plus I've learned so much about history, which I love.

I'm playing her at the moment with a couple of friends, and the problem is that when I finally get carthography and redcoats, all the other continents have already been settled. But I thougt there was hope, because I get a strong navy, then Brazil roles up in a modern era warship of some sort, against my frigates.

the fact that you get a free naval unit when completing a RND is so damn good. You can prebuild lots of them to 1 turn, then rush straight to square rigging, then generate a huge navy in a single turn

I have never played England because Pax Britannica is bugged. If you see another continent from turn 1 and settle your second city on the other continent you don't receive a unit.... One thing I wonder though, does the +2 gold from the Royal Navy Dockyard provide production for the shipyard and does it count to the Golden Age dedication where you can get science from your Harbours and Commerce Hubs? Because if that works then +2 gold can actually be quite impactful.

I hope Firaxis make a lot more leaders for already existing civs. Redcoats are unique to Victoria and her Pax Britannica bonus in the same way that Rough Riders are unique to Teddy Roosevelt, not England or America as civs respectively. It is more a historical real world unit that fits the specific Queen Victoria colonisation theme. Currently British museum is VERY strong as a tourism generator and the Royal Navy Dockyard is a very good replacement for a harbour, so they have to ensure that the leader specific bonuses don’t overcompensate. That is why Pax Britannica is mediocre and a bonus unique unit is the only real redeeming factor. This is almost the reverse of Teddy where the American Civ bonuses are heavily geared towards the late late game, and are fairly weak; therefore Teddy’s leader specific bonuses to combat strength, appeal and Rough Rider unit’s are exceptionally strong. It all depends on whether the Civ is strong or whether the leader is strong.

Noice Video like always. But one might get the idea, that you are biased against some civs. You seem to take policies in consideration with some civs and ignore them on other civs. England is extreemly powerful in conquering and keeping conquered cities (free garrisond melee unit, + loyality from unit military policy, + amenity from unit) is an easy way to keep the city loyal until your dockyard finishes and cements the city for you.

It could help them out a little bit, provided that it isn't too far earlier (then it'd be a bit OP). I think something that could help them even more though is to simply give them a production boost towards both museums and archaeologists, that'd make their life a lot easier and make that strat a little more viable.

I thought the Pax Britannica ability had been altered in previous updates so that you no longer receive a free melee unit on city conquest. Changes implemented in response to a popular cheese/exploit by players with Free Cities in R&F. All in all, I think that Vicky/England took some big hits with R&F, directly and indirectly, and they really could do with some slightly more substantial abilities (rather and compensatory ones), which is a shame as I do rather enjoy playing as England...

Pax Britannica also grants a melee unit when her unique District is built, but again only in cities not on the same continent as the capital. Still very situational! (only remembered that because last night I started my first ever game as England, primarily to see if the city I grew up in, Salisbury, is in her city list!) (also I missed completely that you mentioned this because I was eating a sandwich)

Ikralla first time i played Victoria she spawned 2 tiles away from the continent edge. Perfect position to take out Rome quickly

I think it would be hard to theme an Archeological Museum with 6 artifacts, even for experienced Civ players. Plus you'd only be able to theme a 6 artifacts Archeological Museum 2-3 times at most in a game, with Victoria it's every Archeological Museum.

About the Royal Navy Dockyard, what if you capture a city on another continent that already have a harbor ? Does it turn in a royal navy dock and gives the loyalty bonus ? If not, it remains hard to invade the continent. I believe you said that islands games aren't your favorites Saxy, but I really would enjoy to see an Islands let's play some day. I don't find a lot of good tuto on that theme and I like your hints. Your let's play are just a little bit too fast compared to your guides (I'm french, english isn't my language :-) ) and sometimes I'm wondering what drove your decision, but I really enjoy your games.

Usually that should be the case, as the RND replaces the harbour, so as Victoria you are not able to have a normal harbour. Similarly, I play Korea at the moment and in the cities I conquer the Campuses are immediately changed into Seowons.

I think the guys over at Firaxis games must've seen a picture of my great grandma Anna, and made Victoria of England look like her, and my great grandma looks a lot like Natalie Portman, as does my mom. That's what I've been thinking since the game came out. That's my opinion.

In the spreadsheet, she is listed as Science B, Culture C, which felt really awkward for me (reason I came to see why the heck she would get B for science with no bonus and C for culture with the nice museum) and then the video is flipped. Was it changed? Was it a typo? Am I crazy?
