@@blacksultan85 na, that man was accepted by a free culture that separated themselves from the columnist thoughts that a lot of blacks have. He was accepted for his eye and way of thinking. That is why he goes so hard for the flag. On top of that, the Haitian culture was the 1st to be forged from separation into acceptance for black ppl as a free ppl. As long as you claim to be free and black you have a way into the culture (you don't look like you from the Afrikaas then help you). That's why he reps like he does and can be accepted.

Not going to lie, this Haitian was not too fond of a non-Haitian wearing our flag. We take it seriously because our ancestors fought and died for that flag. It also represents our struggle as Haitians dealing with poverty and negative stigmas. So we don't take too kind with people trying to make a mockery of it or doing because it's "cool". But Fetty is definitely a different breed. I actually find myself liking his music. Became a big fan over the past few weeks. Love that he focused on Unity. The flag was created to unify the black and the mixed race Haitians. It was important for our country to come together and put our differences aside to gain our independence. We did it successfully. Something we all should learn from as people. So he has my approval.

Wannae More To be completely honest, Haitians take pride to another level. We struggled a lot trying to adapt in America. I know for me I was bullied all elementary and middle school just because I was Haitian. This struggle birth something that can be good and bad. The good is we are unified, we stick up for each other, try to spread positive images of Haiti. The bad is we don't play about our country and it can turn violent. Zoe Pound was created because Haitians were being bullied just for being Haitian. You can youtube them if you want more information. Basically if Fetty didn't get a pass by them, it could have turned really ugly for him. He is respected by them that is why he is able to wear our flag w/o a target on his back.

Y'all so harsh about him wearing our flag. Really? Lemme ask you something, do you remember being picked on for being Haitian by other black people? I do. Seeing him love the culture and being accepted by the Haitian culture in his area seems loving to me. Far too often did I see Haitians being grouped into this derogatory box of "less than." I like seeing people accept and love us.

The way he just talks to his son, you can tell he really cares about them and wants to build their confidence so that they can succeed. Fetty is genuinely a kind person.

I appreciate this interview. I grew up in Paterson-went to Eastside High school under the leadership of Joe Clark, and the best learned lessons for me are: to have thick skin-don't back down from nothing; to appreciate different cultures, people; how to be loyal; how to strive for greatness; most importantly, it taught me how to appreciate life, and to not take things for granted. If you can survive in Paterson, you can survive anywhere.....
