Thanks, Will. Great touch to the life of how a common soldier ate and lived. Way more going on than marching and battles. Most folks overlook that fact. I eat quite a bit of potato soup so I'm going to try this.

The only ingredient that differs from a standard mashed potato recipe is the flour, so I am glad you pointed that out. I can't help wondering what an inventive cook would have added to spruce things up a bit.

Another delicious experience for myself. Most of the dishes I have made from your videos have been amazing except one. Forgot the name that bad was the hard tack crushed up and cooked in salt pork grease. But hey my unit really enjoys it when I cook

I don’t think that one was ever made to be amazing. It was made to be edible. LOL! That said, I can’t keep my eight-year-old daughter away from it.

What type of potatoes did you try out?

We used russet in this episode. I also have tried it with a version of white potato and that was good, too. I’m going to do it one more time with red skins. Will

What type of Dutch oven is that
@CivilWarDigitalDigest4 жыл бұрын
It isn’t. It is just a cast iron pot. It’s a reproduction.

I do believe Jas Townsend and son sells that type of pot on their website.
